5.0 out of 5 stars Used it for a few years now... It's great!

I believe that is why it stopped so soon. Here is info you need to choose the tool right for you pups!•Dog Sizes: We use this for our 2 dogs:(Medium/Large Size) Black Lab & Border Collie Mix,(Small Size) Chihuahua•Sound: It's a little noisy because it's grinding nails, but that said, it is gentler because the quick doesn't get squished/squeezed like when nails are clipped.•Get Dog Used To Tool: This is a new item to your dog and it has both sensations and sounds that they are not used to. So follow guidelines in instructions to get them used to the device before actually using it to grind their nails. Funny thing is that my big dog is fine with loud noises, but he is uncomfortable with how the vibrations feel. It took him a few weeks to get used to it. If I wait too long in-between grindings, he pulls his paws away to rebel for a little bit. Then I show him the regular clipper and he lays back and lets me get 1/3 of his nails trimmed. Lol!My little dog likes it because she hates the big squeezing feeling when clipping her nails. She tells me no at first - she doesn't like her paws touched, but then she just chills. She is silly and sweet. Lol!• Directions: The directions are great for this product! Follow them and you will have content pups and very good results!• Tools Necessary: We use this grinder for our dogs and it came with everything that I believe is useful for the safe removal of their nails. Example. If your dog pulls or moves his paws while grinding, there's a safety cover that helps to keep the parts you are not using from cutting your dog by accident. The cap is clear plastic so I can see what I'm doing and to know when to shake out ground up nail powder. It can smell bad if you go to fast. **So take breaks so your dog's quick/paw doesn't get hot and uncomfortable. And there are a few different speeds to choose from in order to go as slow as necessary for little dog nails and quicker for thick longer, big dog nails. Also there's a drum and a flat disc. Use the one that you are comfortable using, to grind using different methods. There are a lot of videos out there that give all kinds of advice. Go with what is good for your dog's needs and your dexterity level and patience. And patience is key. This is not a contest. It's a way to take care of your pup and save money and time!• Battery Life/Capacity:.This seems to hold a decent charge. Now I never have tried to get both dogs nails all ground down in one sitting. My back and my husband's back just don't last that long anymore. Lol! So we can get our little dog done in one sitting and still have a charge to start on my big dog's nails. Besides he only has enough patience to let us use it long enough to get about one and a half of his paws done. And then it starts to slow down. So now we start with our big dog that needs a higher speed and a longer time to get one to two paws done. Then we can do our little dogs nails and finish.• Heating Up : This is a grinder. It's a machine that spins a disc and deals with friction, so it heats up! That said, it's perfectly normal for this to happen. It doesn't heat up the motor when we do our little pup's nails. But the resistance and amount of time required to grind our big pup's nails heats things up. So take breaks and give your pup some treats and positive attention. The machine cools off in a few minutes and then we resume grinding.Final ThoughtsSo longevity has been good! And function is excellent. Just follow great instructions in the users manual! The quality has been great! The ease of use took a little time because I had never used a grinder before. But my husband found it easy to use. I figured out how to get the dogs used to the sound and slowly get our big chicken, I mean dog used to the vibration. Looking back I was worried, but everything turned out fine. My husband had good info on how to hold and position the tool to each dog's nails, so as to grind the right amount and the desired shape. Yeah teamwork! So all the above to say that we Highly Recommend this product! And we believe you and your pups (mattering their disposition), will finally think getting their nails trimmed is not so bad. The price is fair. Life is about time verses money, so This Saves Money as Compared To getting your dog's nails Professionally Trimmed, even at a local pet supply store. We had a good experience with our relatively chilled and relaxed dogs. I hope my review helps you choose what is right for you and your pup! But to be clear... We Highly Recommend This Dog Nail Grinder!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked when other grinders did not

    N.N. · March 3, 2025

My mini goldendoodle has always hated having her nails touched, and no amount of desensitizing has helped in almost 5 years. I do all of my dog's grooming besides her nails since I got her during COVID and groomers weren't accepting new customers at that time. I learned everything out of necessity, and she's extremely patient with me. She even lets me shave her paw pads now easily, which did take a lot of desensitizing, but nails I've had no luck. I tried another grinder that was the most highly rated one at the time on Bolo 4 years ago from Casfuy, but the second it touched her nail she bolted. Since I've had no luck myself, I've always taken her to the vet to have her nailed trimmed every 6 weeks, but they just recently decided they can't do just nail trims anymore unless you're coming in for a medical appointment. This was a huge blow since we've been doing this for years, and I really don't like bringing her to groomers where they take her in the back. I got her a scratch board and its worked somewhat ok for most of her front nails, but I couldn't ignore her back paws any longer. I decided to try trimming them myself since her back paws are less sensitive than her front, but on nail 2 she freaked out, jerked her paw in a weird way, and I ended up getting her quick. The scene that ensued could have been out of a movie, with blood all over my living room floor, carpet, couch, myself, and then cornstarch getting kicked into the air coating everything. It was a mess, and took over 30 min to get her nail to stop bleeding. After that I knew she'd never let me near her with the nail clippers again, so I had to go back to the drawing board. My coworker suggested the nail grinder again, and I figured I'd try a different one since I was out of ideas doing this myself. I decided to get this one since I know the brand well, and it was so highly rated (and also because I knew on Bolo I could return it easily if it didn't work out). I had very little confidence this was gonna work, and figured I'd be spending months desensitizing her. On the first use she let me do all of her nails! Don't get me wrong, it did take a decent amount of rotisserie chicken bribing from my partner simultaneously, but I was shocked that I actually got through all of them (even the front paws AND dreaded dew claws!). I started on level 1, but quickly moved to level 2 since 1 felt like it was doing nothing. I will say level 2 is significantly louder that 1, but my dog quickly got over it. I haven't gone beyond 2 yet, but I'd imagine 3 is much louder as well. I was so beyond thrilled to be able to do this successfully and couldn't believe my dog didn't put up a fight. Overall, I'd highly recommend these, especially if you've already tried cheaper brands with no success.

4.0 out of 5 stars it works, that's it

    r. · May 30, 2025

it works, the opening for the nail is a bit small for a mid-size dog, I take the protective plastic off and "free hand" it, much better, and I use the round sanding rolls instead o the discs. It really does take the nails off, the speed how this works makes it easy to work on the paws and our dog doesn't mind if it's over soonwhy 4 stars? because it comes with a cable ... no power supply! given the size of that tool the insulation should be better, the noise from this tool makes dogs nervous. I replace an older pet dremel with the new one, I have the sanding rolls I use from the previous tool, but what I got today is just bare bones, for that price I expect more.I will get the rotary nail grinder, that would be a nice dremel package.
