I used the Roberts 10-616-2A Carpet Trimmer for my basement carpet install, and it made a tough job so much easier. The build quality is great — it feels sturdy and well-balanced, with a handle that’s comfortable to grip even after a couple of hours of trimming.The cutting performance is impressive. It makes clean, precise edge cuts without pulling or fraying the carpet fibers. The adjustable settings are a huge plus since they let me dial in the depth for different carpet thicknesses. Once you get the hang of adjusting it, it handles standard and thicker carpets with no problem.Changing blades is quick and straightforward, and I appreciate that it comes with plenty of spares right out of the box. One thing to note: there’s a small learning curve if you haven’t used a trimmer like this before, but once you practice a bit, it’s smooth sailing.Overall, I’d definitely recommend this if you’re doing any kind of carpet installation. It’s durable, reliable, and cuts clean every time.

I bought this to DIY some carpet into a friend’s rental home. They lock in position great, they were cheap, cut right through the carpet and the blade held and edge for three bedrooms. Easy to set up and work just like one of the “professional” ones at less than half the cost.

As someone with no prior experience installing carpet, I found this tool very difficult to use. It took me four hours to cut a 12x10 room, and even then, the cuts weren’t perfect. The carpet kept getting stuck, which made the process frustrating.That said, it did get the job done in the end, but I wouldn’t recommend this for beginners or anyone who isn’t prepared for a learning curve. If you’re experienced, it might work better for you, but for me, it was more trouble than expected.
