I use this only once a day in the morning as I use a prescribed toothpaste in the evening. It is grainy in texture, has a "normal" taste, and does not leave behind any filmy stuff or grains or odd taste/sensation. The black charcoal does not stain anything. It does not take a large amount to effectively brush, but to be fair I use the Waterpik combo unit, and their small-headed toothbrush (similar to the oral-B ) works so well that I can use quite a bit less toothpaste on it as compared to the larger heads on most toothbrushes. Anyway, I used to use a Colgate whitening toothpaste, but for about a year I was only using Dr. Bronner's (cinnamon flavor) which I adore. Now, to assure you readers of the veracity of my testimony that this is a 5-star product, I reluctantly disclose that I have a removable partial denture. Not a bragging point but that is how I can tell Crest Charcoal Whitening makes a difference. It began 2 months ago when I noticed the teeth in my partial were at least a couple shades whiter than my real teeth. In looking at all the packages of toothpastes now available, I decided to go back to my childhood roots, Crest which often times is ADA endorsed, and I figured if they offered a charcoal formula it must be safe if anything. After 1 tube I could easily see that my teeth - fake and real - once again "match." Partials in general and mine in particular are shiny like real teeth due to a coating which dulls. We are therefore cautioned to not brush our partial as we would our real teeth, meaning with any kind of regular toothpaste (and especially with an abrasive formula). So with that in mind we have a foolproof way to see what's happening, as the partial and real teeth are right next to each other in front.

Good product. It does whiten teeth. Just reordered this back in September of 2025 and noticed the size was 3.3 not 3.8. Not exactly happy with that because it’s advertised as 3.8 and I’m assuming we are paying for that size.

I don't know if this qualifies as real charcoal toothpaste. I didn't do research on it, but I've heard that there are some charcoal products out there that are black and stay black. This black toothpaste actually turns white while brushing. I'm going to assume that this is the real deal though. It did seem like my teeth got whiter after only a few brushings.The flavor is amazing. I was using Crest Complete Minty Fresh before, and it does not taste nearly as minty as this Crest 3D White Charcoal toothpaste. Also, this charcoal toothpaste feels like it lasts longer while brushing. By the time I am finished brushing, it still feels like I have a mouthful of minty toothpaste. With the other Crest toothpaste, it would stop tasting minty and would feel more sparse.

Crest 3D White Charcoal Whitening toothpaste seems to work well ... but in conjunction with ... the Crest Tooth Whitening products! I used the Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Light kit and I was very impressed with the results ... and using the Crest Whitening Toothpaste with Charcoal with the kit helped to keep my teeth looking pretty good ~ and I'm a pretty regular coffee drinker too! Before using the charcoal toothpaste, I did do some research on charcoal based products. I did read where one is not supposed to use those type of products everyday, that there is no significant research that proves one way or another that charcoal has any definite benefits. Some literature mentions that in regards to teeth whitening, the charcoal could leave streaks, or black marks on the teeth and scrape away the enamel on ones teeth. However, I'm assuming that the literature is "the worst case scenario", as with most of the information online, and that they could be referring to people who put ground charcoal in these products. Crest 3D Charcoal toothpaste does not say that one should not use the product everyday. In fact, the instructions on use are the same as on any other toothpaste, and I have to say that I certainly haven't seen any of issues with the toothpaste with my teeth that some of that literature warns of. After I was done with the whitening kit I continued to use the 3D Charcoal toothpaste to help keep up the look of my teeth. As months have gone by, I can see that the Charcoal toothpaste doesn't work as well by itself. By itself, it doesn't work any better or any worse than any other teeth whitening product ... so now it's more - mental security than anything else. However! It's getting close to time to get the kit again - and as I said above, the both of them together is pretty impressive!

LOVE THIS TOOTHPASTE!! Yes that’s excitement!! Finally found a whitening toothpaste that’s not so harsh on my sensitive teeth and it actually whitens!! No sore teeth or gums! The flavor is like most toothpaste but not too minty. It’s appreciated as most cause nausea with all that “minty freshness.” Leaves your mouth feeling super clean, freshens breath and that added bonus of charcoal is a game changer!! Great buy, and great price!!

Seems to work good.. not the best flavor but , not bad either. Especially considering that it is made with charcoal. Whitening seems good, although I have only used a half tube so far. As far as flavor .. It is not as minty as say , the Radiant mint version , but I was not expecting it to be either . No shock in that department. My mouth seems clean and refreshed after use and with NO Charcoal taste or after taste. Will buy again.

I have always bought this kind of toothpaste! It is great tasting, and not a bad price either. It also doesn't leave the tiny pieces of Charcoal in your mouth like other toothpastes. As far as the Whitening Capabilities, I haven't noticed anything to write home about. I mean, it does a good job keeping the coffee stains off of my teeth, but it isn't doing anything spectacular. I do not notice any additional whitening.
