Sounds pretty good. It will distort so you have to be a little careful. I caught it on sale, so I'm really happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Use, Excellent Sound

When my bookshelf stereo system bricked itself, I found myself in need of a new compact sound system for my bedroom. After getting over my initial reticence to join the 21st century and not worry about silly things like "CD players" and "radio tuners", I researched myself in circles trying to find a unit that would work with my existing tech, not be too confusing, and have decent sound. As most of the music I listen to in that room is Classical, Folk or Traditional, I was wary of any speaker touting its "bass boost" capabilities. I also have a pretty good ear, so I initially shied away from this, as I was just learning about the lossiness of bluetooth technology, and codecs and whatnot, and it seemed that there were other brands that were more on top of this.I need not have worried; after a trusted audiophile friend recommended this, AND a reputable review site ranked it over the competition, I took a chance. Here is what I have learned. First off, the amount of sound coming out of this speaker is more than adequate for a small bedroom. It sounds about equivalent to my previous 3-piece bookshelf system. I did a sound check with a favorite piece of bombastic classical music using the Bluetooth connection. It was pretty darn good, and probably fine for my needs. However, noting some other reviews, I went into the settings on the phone I was using to transmit and chose a different EQ setting. I didn't have to toggle much; the "Classical" pre-set on my phone was perfect, and noticiably improved the sound. When I used the included Aux cable, the sound became even better. If they hadn't included the aux cable or hookup, I would have been quite satisfied with the Bluetooth sound once I worked out the Equalizer. Also, on a purely aesthetic note, I really appreciate how "analog" this unit feels. There are two dials and a toggle switch on it. There is no app to download, and pairing it with my Android and Apple devices was easy. It did my old stereo one better, in that I can listen to my local classical station through their website without suffering through static. If I decide I want to get my shiny silver discs out and listen to a CD, I would only have to purchase a cheap CD player, and the Aux cable would enable that. Since it works with my iPod classic, I may not even need to do that. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for a compact sound system.

1.0 out of 5 stars What happened to the power indicator light, Klipsch?

    L. · June 30, 2023

So, I am baffled.I was really excited to receive this and try it out. Shipping took longer than I would have liked, but it finally arrived today, and I immediately pulled it out of the box and I plugged it in and flipped its switch and....nothing.Literally nothing. Flipped the switch a couple more times. Nothing. Zero indication of function or power.Checked the DC In connection. Nothing.Checked to make sure the outlet I had the DC cord plugged into has a power source, and it powers my side table lamp fine, so that's not the issue.I tried the factory reset process as the manual instructs (with the switch both up and down, since I cannot tell which position is "on", it's not labeled)...nothing.Thought, what the hell, and went through the Bluetooth pairing process to see if anything came through; Nothing. No Bluetooth light firing up, no appearance of the speaker in my phone's Bluetooth connection menu. So, what's wrong with it?No idea. No way to tell, either, because there's no indicator light on the speaker, so, I have no way of knowing if it's the DC cord or something else that is causing it to be DOA.Sigh.I ask you, what quality speaker company omits the darn power indicator light? It's a really useful, and utterly standard, feature and function. What's especially bizarre is this speaker comes with a (very simple) user manual, and a good chunk of it is dedicated to the speaker's indicator light and what the different colored lights mean; The presence and location of the light is clearly diagramed on page 3, and literally half of page 5 is dedicated solely to it.So, even thought its own user manual insists it has one (again, see photos), it DOESN'T HAVE ONE.????So frustrating and illogical, and just plain irritating.I mean, what happened? Did Klipsch redesign it (without changing its model name - see the photo I took of the bottom of the unit along with the user manual; The model names printed on both are the same) - cheaping out by removing the indicator light, and then REALLY cheaping out by NOT also redesigning the user manual? Did they REALLY just toss the old, BETTER version's manual into the packaging for this substandard redesign, and in the process clearly reveal that they'd removed a really helpful, standard feature?Boggles the mind they'd be that short-sighted, but I do believe that's what they did.SO. Is this a good speaker? Maybe, in the sound department, but, who knows? At least, not I, because I can't turn it on. It most definitely sucks as far as powering up, and extra sucks by not having an indicator light that can help diagnose issues (or just tell you it's on or off), so, yeah, back it goes, which extra, extra sucks, because it's a very attractive-looking speaker, not much else out there looks this nice, and I really, really wanted this to be, well, The One. :(IF it had an indicator light, I'd probably buy another one to try out after returning this one (because I'd figure I'd just gotten a dud, which, in all likelihood, is what has happened). But, for real, friends, indicator lights have a REALLY logical purpose (as is evidenced by my experience with THIS very speaker), and I very much want what now appears to be the simple luxury of that very, very basic feature included in whatever speaker I buy.If there is a version of this speaker I can buy that actually comes with an indicator light, hopefully I can figure it out, because I would buy that instead...But really, how can I trust that anything I see online actually reflects the reality of what would be shipped to me? The data and specs in the manual are flat out wrong. Any specs, descriptions, or promises I find online could also be wrong....Upon further reflection I find this whole situation hilarious, because even all the REALLY cheapo, Chinese junk units out there have an indicator light. What a joke Klipsch, the company, seems to be, and, yes, silly me for thinking a European company with a long history would be better. It's ALL about maximum profit with minimum features these days, doesn't matter where it was designed or who designed it.

High end audio quality and classic retro design.

    R.B. · March 3, 2021

I bought this to replace an older stereo with bookshelf speakers that I had for my turntable. My turntable has a built-in pre-amp, so it was simple to connect the line out to the aux in on the back of this unit. Vinyl sounds great and the Bluetooth connection for streaming from devices also works well. Has nice, rich sound with some decent bass for a small device. The metal knobs, wood panels and fabric cover helps create a classic retro aesthetic that I really enjoy. Highly recommended!

    A fantastic bluetooth speaker

    A.G. · January 16, 2020

This speaker is not only beautiful and styled in an iconic mid-century way it sounds amazing! We listen to many genres of music and this speaker does not disappoint. Also key for us was the re-chargeable battery which would allow us to move the speaker as we wanted. If you are looking for a classically styled (real wood not plastic) and real fabric (again not plastic) that sounds as good as it looks. Then this speaker is for you. Easy to operate, free from gimmicky apps - a real gem of a product that hopefully stands up for many years.
