I did not have high hopes for these as I am always skeptical of cup or packaged products such as these versus that of scratch made. Well short of flying to Korea and having a street vendor whip them up for me, I decided to give these a try with my family. Overall, they are not horrible. I will say that the carbonara flavored ones were hotter than the spicy ones. Which I thought was weird, as I was assuming that it would be the opposite. I did add the melted mozzarella cheese to both that I have often seen featured in the videos and it does help build on the flavor. The texture can be off putting if you are not into chewy textures, but other than that, the rice cake itself has no real flavor. The sauce is really where your flavor comes from in the packaging. I tried these with my nephew, who happens to probably be the pickiest eater on the planet. He loved them. The spice does not hit you right away, but rather creeps up on you and stays for a bit. We also ate them both with some Chinese food (General Tso's chicken to be exact) and that also helped add additional flavor. I will be ordering these again, as I have found a new food that my nephew will gladly enjoy.

Wow!!!! This was delicious!!!! I have been wanting to try tteokbokki for quite some time now, and this did not Disappoint. The directions are in Korean so you may need to look the directions up. What I did was add the sauce, added hot water to the line inside the cup ( I added a little more because I like sauce) , I placed the lid back on, and microwaved for 2 minutes. They did look done at this point. However I did add a few extras of my own. I added mozzarella to that top and microwaved for 40 seconds, I also a boiled egg. The additions were perfect and I highly recommend making additional sides such as fried foods or kimchi to dip in and make for a great meal. The flavor is excellent, these did not seem as spicy as the same brand of noodles and has a nice sweet and spicy flavor. I had only eaten around half of the bowl and there were still ten left leading me to believe there is around 20 total. The bowl was larger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. Overall I am pleased with this product, and I would recommend the purchase.

I absolutely loved these so much! I personally liked the carbonara flavor (the pink one) over the original flavor (the black one). I do add a few of my own ingredients in as well. In my opinion, when I followed the instructions, It wasn’t soft enough for me, so I did leave it out longer in the boiling water to cook for longer. It also says to put it in the microwave but I feel like that is an unnecessary step if you do end up putting boiling water. The rice cake is the perfect bite size in my opinion and it fills me up every time so there is quite a bit. It might not look like a lot but as you boil them they get bigger, and its very filling. For 2, I’d say the price is reasonable! Everything inside is prepackaged nicely, and very easy to make!

The soup or the essence of the flavoring packets is so delicious however the rice cakes taste a bit like rubbery substance but when added to my original ramen gave it a bit ofa better kick of flavor

I randomly had a craving to try Korean fish cakes so I found this on Bolo. I read many other reviews, some saying it's spicy, some saying it's not spicy at all. But I'll keep it real, if you're used to eating things like spicy Thai, Indian, or Korean dishes then this might not be that spicy to you and you'll love it. The chewy fish cakes covered in spicy sauce is super great. But if you aren't used to spicy foods, you will definitely find this way too spicy. I'm in-between, I love spicy foods but I still get a runny nose and numb lips from eating spicy dishes but I consider that just part of the experience. I still think these are a really good try for people who want to try Korean fish cakes.

It has such cute packaging. The pink one is chicken and cheese flavor (optional). It’s not too spicy at all. I was worried that cooking instant rice cake (tteokbokki) in the microwave wouldn’t cook correctly, but it cooked really well for 2:30. It just as chewy as regular rice cake! If u follow the English instructions on the package it makes soupy sauce, but if u would like a thicker sauce. Add water microwave and then pour the rest of the water off, so that you have just enough to mix with the sauce to keep it thick! Also if u don’t like spicy that much then don’t add the whole packet. I love how big the bowl is! It leaves a lot of room for additional things like fishcake eggs and veggies :3

First time trying these, flavor is so good! I tried the pink (cheese) one first. Don’t be fooled, that one is spicy too. I tried a few and then I combined it with a bowl of fire noodles - I liked them together better. The rice cakes are definitely heavy on the gut! I noticed if you don’t eat them quickly and the start cooling they start to firm up again and can be hard to chew.

This was so disappointing. You might as well save your money and get actual rice cakes from an asian supermarket. These smelled and tasted like plastic and my stomach has never hurt so badly after eating this. Please stay far away
