This welder is light easy to move around. I have about 40 hours on it and it works great. I did buy better leads for it . I would buy again

This little welder went above all my expectations and then some!! I have put this welder through the paces for the applications I need it for and now its review time.I'm a machinest and mechanic by trade. Our old shop welder stopped working one day and I was on search for something small and compact. I saw the reviews on the little welder and pulled the trigger and got one. I was on the fence because to me I thought I needed the best welder on the market for the types of applications I need and let's face it Lincoln and Miller are the Red and Blue and run the show for welders. After this purchase i can definitely state that it is not the case and Im so glad I did make this purchase! I weld cast, and various types of metals. I do alot of Drive End, Outer End Bell housing for electric motors, Gearbox and Pump Impeller repairs and the arc on this this little welder is mind blowing.Cast Iron: (240v) (Does not work well on 120v)I barely even touch the surface and it has the smoothest start on every run. Im running on 240V can weld Cast 99 and Cast 55 rod like butter. Making repairs a breeze and I can get more jobs done so much faster now with a better quality weld. It out performs the old welder we had in our shop and im laying down dimes on Cast now. My old welder dosent even come close to how well this thing lays dimes on Cast. Trick of the trade when welding Cast is making sure your surface is ground down and sand blasted and then heating it with a torch to between 200F-250F and then reversing the polarity when stick welding Cast 99 and 55 rod. Alot of inverter welders I have tried have a hard time doing this but this thing little welder works perfectly, and I honestly don't know how.General Steel: (240 and 120v work just fine)I've ran 7018 also and again the smoothest arc start. I've had to go and do fan balancing out in the field to weld on weights so it's very portable and small so I can fit it in a backpack and go on top of roofs. It works very well on 120v for 7018 also.Now on to stainless steel: (240v and 120v work just fine)I've even welded 308 stainless steeI rod to build up material on the OD and ID of stainless steel Impellers because the material just washes it down so im able to build it up and turn it down on a lathe.Shaft Build up:Also I've had rotor shafts that the bearing journals are just trashed after a motor tear down. So I run 6013 rod beads and then turn the shaft down to the proper bearing tolerance diameter. A perfect finish everytime!!Final Note:Ive done 45 rotar shaft repairs so far, 37 cast repairs and 19 stainless steel impeller repairs and 55 gearbox repairs at the time of this review and this welder hasnt had a hicup yet!I did however upgrade the stinger and ground clamp before using as mentioned in the majority of reviews because it is a definite must. If you are like me looking for a welder and might be on the fence get this welder you will be blown away as I have!! I dont know how this welder perforns so well but im so blown away on how well it works!I would highly recommend this welder to anyone, just pull the trigger and get it!! You won't be disappointed!

I like this machine so far i have ran some nice beads with it on 3/32 6013E rods. The only i don't really don't like i had turn it on full amps to get it burn the rods right to lay the beads so there no way its turning out 160 amps but i only have a 20 amp 120v socket at my house to plug it into that might be the problem but for how cheap it is i'm happy with it

Best bang for your buck. If you upgrade the ground and the stinger it will perform just fine even on 110v. I'm not the best welder but I have more than gotten my money worth out of it. As a Blacksmith on a budget this has helped me make countless tools and billets of damascus. I have had it a little over a year and it has exceeded my expectations.

Amazing for the price
Awesome welder for the price, and it's tiny! Even my iron worker friend was impressed. recommend using 220v for 1/8 rods (hard to start an arc on 110 but still work). 3/32 rods weld great on 110v or 220v. The cables and clamps aren't the best quality but for the price I wouldn't expect more, they get the job done.

Bought this welder as a possible upgrade to an old Century 250A AC buzz-box. I had always struggled with the Century in that the arc was hard to start unless the amps were cranked too high for the rods used and the puddle seemed hard to control (I'm a hobby welder so am working here only from my impressions and what I have read as to how a welder should operate).Anyhow, was very pleasantly surprised with this machine. Arc is much easier to start, even with cold electrodes and work piece. Laying down bead seems much easier as the rod burns at a slower rate without sputtering or sticking as with the Century.The welder seems well made - even the rod holder and cables seems to be of good quality. Only possible gripe would be with the ground clamp which seems a little on the light side.I started with 220V operation burning 1/8" 7014 with good success as noted above with indicated currents ranging from 120A to 80A (it was harder to start at 80A but once started, it went fine which I think would be very useful for welding thinner material). Then tried 120V with the same rod - arc was not quite as easy to start but the rest was similar to 220V, all this on a 15A circuit (only welded short beads, the breaker might blow I suspect with longer runs). BTW, it comes with a 110 to 220 adapter which makes it easy to switch.This unit is so small and light it would be easy to take and use in a remote location and that maybe only has 120V available. Another thing I like is the ease of adjusting the amps (just turn the knob) as opposed to the Century with its stiff and hard to operate mechanical lever.Highly recommended..... !
