Trainers Verity and Sorrel join Ash on his journey. Along the way, Ash catches an abandoned Charmander, raises a Pokémon from Caterpie to Butterfree and then releases it to follow its heart, and meets the mysterious Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. Blu-ray product: perfectly passable. Good picture, good sound. no annoying previews. A little lacking in the way of special features/bonuses. Probably the best way to own this movie physically.Movie itself: Probably the best Pokemon movie. Right up there with Pokemon 2000 for me. This is a re-imagining of the first episode with Ash and Pikachu for the first section. About 12-ish minutes. Very well done. The rest of the movie is a great original story with focus on the classic legendary Ho-oh, and the brand new mythical Pokemon from Sun and Moon: Marshadow.I love this movie. And I love the direction they're taking the movies in now. Completely separate from the anime. Thank goodness. Great reboot. It's also much more loyal to the logic/feel of the games than any of the past movies. This movie had a surprising number of twists and turns that I did not see coming, and appreciated greatly. The themes, feel, tones, direction, emotions, and impact were spot on for me. The music was very well executed as well. This movie is surprisingly classy. Almost classier than a Pokemon movie has the right to be. Seeing this in theaters was an amazing, fun experience. This reboot movie blends new and old wonderfully. There are lots of easter eggs spread throughout too. I fully recommend it. Can't wait for the next one. I hear it features Lugia.

Loved Pokémon sense I was kid nice lil addition to getting all of ashes adventure on dvd even the canon ones box came in good condition disk were new over all everything was perfect

My son had been wanting for this movie. Once it came in he watched it immediately. After watching the movie he was very happy but said the was a part that almost made him cry. Great movie highly recommended.

Made a grown-ass man tear up with nostalgia. A really enjoyable watch all around. I don't hold the original cast out to be sacred cows so I loved the new additions. It was a lot of fun seeing the series take a new direction while still hitting the emotional beats of the original first season. Really hoping the next gen follows in the footsteps of these movie; as it stands its a sign of good things to come.

I love all pokemon movies, despite them generally not being very good. However, this movie reboots the first season of the anime and crams it into a movie in a clever way. The Alternate Universe Ash is a much more interesting protagonist, holding onto a lot of what made him great while dropping many of the more annoying qualities (Don't confuse this with flaws, his flaws are still very present). "Pokemon the Movie: I choose You!" is one of the best movies they've made in some time, and is a must see for pokemon fans. They nailed the nostalgia perfectly, while creating a new cinematic universe not constrained by the issues of the anime and the movies before it.Pokemon fans really must watch this one, especially if you grew up with season 1 of the anime.

This movie retells how Ash and Pikachu became partners and the movie takes interesting directions. There's no Brock, no Misty but two new characters one of which is the daughter of Cynthia, the Sinnoh champion.One of the things I like most about this movie is it has a lot of pokemon not native to the Kanto region which makes it a bit more realistic. Yes I'm an adult who's a fan of the franchise.....have been since the beginning. I'm a pokeshipper too.There's some "controversy" over the fact that Pikacbu has a few words in English. So what? I'm not offended by this and I absolutely don't get why people are up in arms about this....is it because of what Pikachu said? Meowth speaks human talk and you don't see everyone declaring war over that little fact. Other pokemon have talked in the movies and the show.This is a splendid movie for the young and the young of heart
