5.0 out of 5 stars The Vinyl Double album is a 45 Rpm!!!

D.g. · January 3, 2025

I am an Oklahoma Gal and the Turnpike Troubadours is a great Oklahoma red dirt band and my absolute favorite!! If you’re a Yellowstone fan, that band on the show is the actual Turnpike Troubadours. I am also an audiophile and this album made me giggle when I opened it up, cleaned & conditioned it, then took it for a spin……what up?! Sounded like a 45 on 33 speed. Did a second take and noticed that it is a 45 rpm! LOL! I love the Turnpike Troubadours and their outside the box sense of style both in music and creativity! So if you’re an audiophile, change your speed. Ha!Now, as far as the album… it’s AWESOME! I have all their albums, and this is up there with Diamonds & Gasoline (D&G) as my favs. This album has a little more southern rock sound of the late 60s/early 70s, whereas D&G has a more backwoods sound. On all TT albums you will fall in love with Evan Felkers vocals, and Kyle Nix fiddle. All songs are fantastic, with Pay No Rent and Oklahoma Stars as my favorites. I highly recommend this one! It was the last I added to my TT collection, but oh so glad I did! Would definitely recommend this!! If you’re on the fence, get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a great CD with great writing

D.S. · October 31, 2017

I am not your typical country music guy. I live in the central east coast and from a background where country music really wasn't something any of my friends listened to. I was exposed to the Turnpike Troubadours on Pandora and became a big fan after downloading their album Diamonds & Gasoline. Its a great CD with great writing, stories and ultimately memorable songs. The next CD (self titled) I also enjoyed but may where D & G was a 10, this album was a 8-9, fantastic by any standard but still growing on me.This new CD which I have owned digitally since its released just 11 days ago has taken over my playlist. It is what music is meant to be. Its entertaining, memorable and fun. Stories that make you want to know what happens next after the song ends or stories that make you think..."who or what is he actually referring to". What a great way to spend 12 bucks and get something in return that forever gives you enjoyment. I would tell anyone to take a listen and find yourself wondering why you haven't heard about these guys before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic and enduring

G.B. · December 27, 2017

As many others have written, this is real country music, not the pablum that steals the name and is eligible for industry awards. There are authentic bands and singers out there, you just have to look for them, like Buddy Miller, Billy Joe Shaver, Emmylou Harris, Shinyribs (and the Gourds), Robbie Fulks, Dale Watson, the Mastersons, and North Mississippi All Stars, just to list a few (apologies to all the others I love so much). Turnpike Troubadours rank with the very best. This is American music we can celebrate."Something to Hold On To" is the highlight in an album of full of highlights. Can't help but sing along. I have their last four albums and find listening to them all straight through as close to how I felt when I "discovered" Pink Floyd or Bob Dylan. Really exceptional music that will last for the ages. Nashville, stuff it, this is the real deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is easily the best album released by any band in any genre in a over decade!

R.R. · July 17, 2018

This is one of those albums that some long time fans may question as not up to par at first, but once you really let it sink in you begin to realize what a masterpiece it is. The songwriting is not only brilliant as we've come to expect, it's now more mature and even more thought provoking poetry with same character driven story telling we all crave from Evan Felker. It' kicks into high gear right away with Housefire just like the Browning shotgun mentioned in the lead song, but each and every track on the album is absolutely fantastic. Winding Stair Mountain Blues is my personal favorite, and Pay No Rent will make even the toughest and stoic guys shed a tear. These guys are the best thing that's happened to music in over 30 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! Songwriting at its beat

This album blows me away every time I hear it! So well written, superbly produced. It’s true to the live performance they can perform at the smallest to largest venue! Love the album to the last note

4.0 out of 5 stars Great new Cd

G. · December 26, 2017

Great new Cd. I have yet to find that stand out track, but still can't complain. For example the last couple CD's had The Funeral and The Mercury, the list could go on, definetly stand out tracks, for me anyway. This one, not so much. Still not a complaint, just an opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where have you been all my life

D.C. · July 14, 2018

Where have you been all my life. Saw these guys on a late night rerun of Austin City Limits. They were great so I downloaded several of their albums. Have really been enjoying them all. I see from the album release dates that they have been around for a while, sorry I didn't discover them sooner. They certainly are not main line country music. In Call A Spade A Spade from an earlier album, Goodbye Normal Street they seem to be channeling Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris. So glad I found them. Hope to see them live whenever they are in my area.

THIS HOUSE IS ON FIRE
