The installation videos posted on Boomba's website are well done and easy to follow. Install took me about 20 minutes and you just have to pop the airbox out. You do not need to disconnect the wiring. You'll need a 4mm hex key and it will be easier if you have a T-handle one. You can do it with a small key, but the fit is tight and you'll be bumping your knuckles. Once installed, the gearbox feels tighter and the play in the shift knob is greatly reduced. You'll notice it immediately. I think it's a useful and valuable mod for the price.

i put this on my 2019 GTI. I was really expecting to not like it and return it. I figured i might end up with the Audi TT short throw instead as i really wanted it to feel OEM. I installed this in about 20 minutes, and i LOVE IT. Cant wait to get out and drive again. Super smooth feeling everywhere. Everything feels tighter overall in a good way. Downshifting from 3rd to 2nd is great.

The shifting is much more responsive. All the slack and travel from the stock shifter mount point was removed resulting in heavier more confident shifts. No more missing the gate or partial gear engagement during shifts. Install time takes about 20 minutes if you go carefully. If you need to get back into the shifter linkage area, it'll take you 5min.This is how it should be from the factory.Construction is a from a single piece of milled aluminum billet.

This shifter was a bit too stiff (in my opinion) to use every day but it reduced the throw by a lot, which I liked. I do appreciate Boomba’s customer service - I was able to get a full refund, no questions asked. Hard to find good service like that these days.

It took maybe 15 mins to install with real basic tools and what a nice feel. Shifts are shorter, crisp and has that nice mechanical feel to it. This is how the GTI should have shifted from the factory.

I was planning on buying a short shifter and just happen to come across this product. For what it is I think it’s a little pricey. But it’s the only product I found that uses the stock parts and take 5 minutes to install. You literally pop off shifter cable with 1 clip holding it on and tighten up 2 Allen screws and you’re set. They have a couple videos on YouTube. The shifter throw feels much shorter tighter and so much more engaging. It falls into gear with very little effort. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it but after a 20 minute drive it was one of the best mods I’ve done yet. Highly recommend if if you don’t feel comfortable installing a proper short shifter. It does not not get any easier than this boomba adapter.
