A CD i wanted
This is the label for folk music. There are songs on here I have been looking for and it adds to my collection. I will be listening to this quite a lot.
Brilliant compilation
I bought this on Vinyl which sounds great. The recordings go back to Ewan McColl singing Dirty Old Town (1952) and Ramblin' Jack Elliott (1957) and go through to Love Will Tear US Apart performed by June Tabor and The Oyster Band (2011). Outstanding British performers (mostly) singing a variety of traditional and new songs and there are lots of lovely moments - on Martin Simpson's Never Any Good, Kate Rusby joins him on the chorus to beautiful effect. There some classic performances (eg. Davy Graham's Angi, Martin Carthy's Scarborough Fair and Canada-i-o by Nic Jones) alongside new classics like Love Will Tear Us Apart and John Tams' Unity which makes for a stirring finish to side 4. Fine selection of performers and tracks, well compiled, good runni9ng order and thoroughly enjoyable.
