I've used this exact tool for several years and it goes with me to every job. The shape of the handle is comfortable and the product is very sturdy. The classic application is to use this for marking stock, but I also use it to start every drill hole in wood or wood-based materials. It's amazing how using it prevents your drill bit from wandering.

This is my favorite scratch awl. It's very well made and a pleasure to use. The only downside is that I tend to misplace it - but that says more about me than the awl.

This is a good scratch awl. Comes with a point that you can mark lines with and stars holes with. Does what I need it to do at very reasonable price. There is no need to purchase.An Awl with a name on it that’s been marked up 100-200% because of said name.,

Was given this as part of my work toolkit (IT technician). Used it all the freaking time.Planned to quit my job. Started building up my own kit for freelance work.Also, sometimes you just need a sharp pointy thing.Had to have an awl. Had to be the Stanley one.

Adequate awl but the shaft does not extend through the wooden handle and is not capped with a metal striking surface. The General brand is less expensive and the awl shaft extends through the handle and has a metal cap for light striking.
