However, I always found it to be super expensive.When I found this on Bolo, I couldn't believe how reasonable the price was considering the amount that I was getting. After opening the resealable bag, I found the dried pieces to be supple (not overdried and rock hard) and there was a good mix of different sizes of ginger. This is especially helpful when I'm weighing the ginger for recipes - I can choose the smaller pieces to add up to the required recipe weight.I takes me a while to get through a bag this size, but the ginger has always remained fresh and flavorful until it's time for me to order a new bag. This is my second order and I'm very pleased with the quality of the ginger as well as great bang for the buck!

I first purchased "NUTS U.S. - Dried Crystallized Ginger Slices in Resealable Bag (3 LB)". I gave this 2 stars because it wasn't really ginger. There was very little heat, it was primarly candy w/little in the way of ginger flavor.I recently purhcased "NUTS U.S. - Dried Crystallized Ginger Slices | All Natural and Non GMO | No Artificial Colors or Ingredients | Sugar Coated Chewy Flavor | Packed in Resealable Bag!!! (Unsulfured 3 LBS)". THIS is real ginger and has the spice to prove it.Rating averaged to 4 between both products.

(Also - The Ginger comes from Thailand - not the U.S.... "Nuts U.S."? That's America for ya!) If you like to burn the crap out of your tongue then this is the brand for you! I personally HATE Ginger that is this spicy. I was SUFFERING! IT's so pungent and doesn't have the "crunchy" sugar like all the tasty ones have (It barely has some left-over powder from fine sugar). It looks fine and fresh, it's just the ginger itself was too ripe or something. There are brands that get it JUST RIGHT and not so EXTREMELY spicy. I won't be buying this brand again. But I know LOTS of American LOVE to burn their tongues to the point of not being able to taste the food their eating, so it's probably popular with those types. (I think it's kind of an Adrenaline addiction or something. That's just so not normal!)UPDATE*** Got a new bag (because I forgot I bought these before) and they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Still not great, but went from 2 stars to 3. The smell from the bag is BIZARRE! Not Ginger smell AT ALL! Smelled almost moldy and very chemical! (But are NOT moldy) It almost smells (and tastes a little bit) like they sprayed air freshener in the facility where they packaged these... I'm not sure if it's the plastic bag that made it smell and taste so strange? They are definitely better than the last batch, but still not GREAT. They are just OK... They are also EXTREMELY SUGARY! 49grams sugar (when most others are 24-28grams! So DOUBLE THE SUGAR! Which is kind of an Oxymoron, given they have "HEALTH IN EVERY BAG" printed on the bag...) I'm glad they are MUCH MORE MILD! I like them MILD and CHEWY. These are also not very chewy... I'm going to keep and eat them, but I won't UTTERLY ENJOY it... I'll just tolerate it. DANG it's hard to find good ginger in this country! (Even though EVERY SINGLE BATCH comes from somewhere else! Usually Thailand)***Another update! These were SO EXTREMELY SUGARY that I have been WASHING (the sugar OFF of) EVERY SINGLE ONE before I eat it and STILL THEY ARE EXTREMELY SWEET! This is INSANITY! I've NEVER had such PURE SUGARY dehydrated foods! It's seriously NUTS! Never buying this brand again.
