But, the “modernization” of it makes me angry.I can’t stand to see any classic tv show chopped into a 16:9 picture format from its original 4:3 format.That’s how it is being shown on Prime. When I ordered the DVD set, I expected to see it the same way on these discs. I was truly surprised and happy to see it in 4:3 as it was originally in the late 1970’s. I just had to set my tv up to watch it correctly is all.The pictures I took of the show are from the first disc of the second season. Great picture, great original mono sound. I’m one of those people who loves originality when it comes to tv shows on DVD. I bought this set, gambling on it being original and I won. No streaming service will ever come close to having tv, movies or music on a physical format. Not for me anyway.On the set I received, it couldn’t have come in better condition. I checked every single disc for fingerprints and scratches. Not any were found at all. The set box was not damaged in any way. No bends or damaged corners. Every season’s box was in perfect condition too. The only thing I wish was different, is to have English subtitles on the season one episodes.It’s a great purchase, especially with the 47% discounted price. (16 Dec 2024)

We ordered this because we like watching the show. However, The 6th season disks had many glitches & many episodes couldn't be watched. I would have returned it to exchange for another of the same series, but I had already bought a Season 6 of Chips & just replaced the defective discs with the ones I already had. So 4 or more stars for the series Chips. But thumbs down for the quality of the discs.

Great show! I was not born in the 70s (I was an 80's baby -84) but so far, so good! It's obviously not as clear as a streaming service but it's good enough! Very good enough. Now I know what the freeways during the 70's (late 70's) looked like and notice the big differences now lol. There was a lot more space and less cars on the road. The greeneries were more lush and full sadly compared to know due to global climate change but I can see very good implimentations to mitigate climate change now so we'll see! However, it's obviously not as green as this. But hey at least I know what things looked like in the 70's so it's a bit of a history lesson if you can think of it that way! And I love history as it's usually the CAUSE of the future/present situations!About the DVD set: It's well put together and comes with 31 disks. All 6 seasons are included and I am sure the actors had a good time with the show otherwise, it wouldn't have lasted till 1983. Thanks to Warner Bros who made this show box set! Love it!

This series is about a group of police officers that patrol the highways of the California mainly in the Los Angeles area. The series is focused on two cops in particular Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Frank Poncherello (Erik Estrada). At first Jon is Ponch's training officer while he is on probation and then after the first season they are just partners that ride together on motorcycles and cover each others back while on patrol in the streets and freeways in L.A. Ponch is good at getting into trouble but Jon gets him out without having to go to their sergeant. In the final season Jon is on a ranch in Wyoming, so Ponch gets a new partner Bobby Nelson who is just like Ponch was like when he first joined. Ponch learns just how hard it is to keep a hot dog cop under control. After the first four episodes, Bobby's brother Bruce Nelson comes in and joins the team as a trainee with the academy who worked out of the CHP central office. By the end of the season Ponch gets partnered with Bruce Nelson who is the brother of his old partner Bobby Nelson. This series is one of the few that is family friendly and even though the officers carry guns they do not shoot them.

I purchased the complete "CHIPS"Series. I really enjoyed it and it portrays policing & law-enforcement in a very positive and respectful manner, just normal people doing a very important Job. How times have changed. The modern police dramas are so different to the point of being almost too serious, however times have changed it is for years since "CHIPS" ended
