Why did you pick this product vs others?:These are very good. My mother is hypoglycemic and it does the job when she passes out from low blood sugar brings her around quickly. If she uses them before she pass out, she says the taste is good. It would be nice if it was more budget friendly for an elderly person or anyone that needs them.

I was no stranger to Diabetes and Hypoglycemia before becoming my grandma's main caregiver in 2016 as my grandfather became type 2 in the early '80s. I knew about juice, candies and Glucose tablets as my grandfather sidekick .Nothing prepared me for what I would see for the first time in early one morning when I called 911 ( it appeared to be another stroke\TIA or complex seizure. It actually turned out to be extremely low blood sugar. A EMT gave her Glucose Gel and by the time we got to the ER . She was alert enough to be concerned that the nice gentleman were being taken away from someone really needed them.My grandma had never been diagnosed with diabetes but was tested each year on her birthday because 7 generations became type 2. What I had just entered into was the realm of a "Brittle Hypoglycemic" (never before heard of by me.) Grandma had always got " the flutters" (shaking hands) if she didn't eat since a child but her blood work was always with normal range until she had to start taking a new seizure medication. She began dropping her sugar very rapidly.Transcend Glucose Gel entered our lives after a weeks long seizure lab stay because we had to use the medication that treated her epilepsy best which was always tricky but more so since she had the hypoglycemia diagnosis. These really work fast when needed.A few years years later grandma suffered a stroke that brought on new challenges with swallowing and getting a Assisted Living Center to understand they had to get grandma sugar up to 155 before giving her the morning and evening doses of seizure medication. It was a real battle to get through to them that she wasn't a brittle diabetic she never had real highs. There were several hospitalizations because of them using protocols that didn't fit her. Wanting her at no more than 95 giving her her medicine and then calling me to go to the hospital because she dropped below readable range and unresponsive. By the time I got to the hospital the Transcend our EMT carry was bringing her around.Always a Sassy little lady. She began Asking for Rescue Gel being on her bedside table less someone forgets she can drop off to sleep and end up dropping her sugar to the point of being unresponsive with a list of the dates they sent her to the ER. Her method and her at home doctors education worked. They tested her blood sugar levels and gave her Ensure before her medicine. Even began giving her Ensure pudding before bed.However we keep a supply of Transcend available in the event it is needed. Not only does it work grandma says it tastes good and she compares the consistency of it like thick honey. When she first sampled a bit from our first Bolo order which is the only recollection of using transcend she has.Transcend isn't easy to find in Gel form here in my area and I am grateful to her home visiting physician for letting me know that Bolo carried it. Would highly recommend this product for anyone who has experienced a love one have a serious blood sugar drop.

Honestly, I don’t want to need these, but sometimes my blood sugar drops really dramatically. I don’t really love the strawberry flavor, but the orange flavor is a staple. I’ll definitely be ordering more.
