Description:
The ft-100 has the look, sound, and build quality that first time players and professionals expect to find when they pick up an Epiphone. The dreadnought is considered the classic go-to shape for bluegrass, folk, rock, country, and everything in-between. The dreadnought sound is commanding when required, but its balanced sound means that at any volume, you can be heard and hear yourself well, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good guitar with a little work.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } It's a decent guitar. Made in China. Comes with WAY too heavy strings on it. Gonna put some Martin 80/20 Extra Lights on it this weekend and see how much it improves. The action is sky high, but that's easy enough to fix. Finish is less than amazing. Binding looks good. Tuners are a little shaky, but I'll tighten them up when I put on the lighter strings and adjust the truss rod and get the action lowered to where it's supposed to be. All in all, can't beat it for the money. But if you're looking for a player right out of the box, this isn't it. If you know how to tweak and do your own setup, buy it. Buy it now.UPDATE:I changed out the strings for extra light Martin strings and lowered the action with the included hex wrench. Holy. Moly. It plays beautifully and sounds rich and clear. If I didn't know better I'd swear it was an American- made Gibson. The tuners are still a little sub par but they hold it in tune once you get it there. For the money (I paid a whopping $43+tax for mine brand new on Bolo) you get a guitar that, with new strings and a rather minor adjustment, sounds like one you'd likely pay 20 times as much for. I am VERY happy with this purchase!
5.0 out of 5 stars SCORE!!!
At first I was really hesitant to pull the trigger on this as there weren't any reviews on it yet (must've been a brand new listing?) but WOW am I sure glad that I decided to go with my intuition combined with the fact that I like the Epiphone name to begin with. As soon as I unboxed it and started playing on it I was like SCORE!!! This thing across the board is exactly what I was hoping would arrive......nice low action, terrific overall sound (really deep/rich/full like a nice 12-string), perfectly clean and solid with nothing shaky or rickety or damaged in transit and that must be because it was packaged perfectly with all the right packing materials in the right places to keep it stabilized during shipping. This thing needs nothing.....no guitar tech to go over it or set anything up or tweak anything it is just PERFECT as if I had bought it from the music store and carried it home and I am still in absolute SHOCK that I was somehow able to get it for $46 that is just UNHEARD OF for a guitar like this!! :) :)
5.0 out of 5 stars Closest thing to a Gibson ever
It’s beautiful feels good I got what I wanted
4.0 out of 5 stars Strung Out
Decent quality at a bargain price. Once I tuned up the strings, I found the setting was fine and no need to make any adjustments for playing height (for me). The sticky substance they use for plastic peel off cover shipping film they put on the pick guard did leave some sticky residue when I removed it. I carefully cleaned it with some alcohol wipes and a micro-fiber cloth and it's fine. The sound quality is excellent for a guitar in this price range. It was also packaged very well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome guitar at a fabulous price!
I saw this guitar advertised at less than half of the regular retail price and thought that it had to be a second or a reject. I decided to buy two of them. When they arrived I couldn't find a flaw anywhere. I expected to find sharp fret edges and high action but the frets were smooth and The action was low all the way up the neck. The fit and finish is perfect. After tuning it, I struck a few chords and this baby rings like a two thousand dollar Martin. The deep rich tone is very impressive. This is quite possibly the deal of a lifetime. It was listed as a Jumbo when is actually a dreadnought. It is definitely not a Jumbo. Never the less, it's still an awesome guitar at a fabulous price. They sold out very quickly and I was lucky to get two of them when I did. It is not known if or when they will be back in stock.
5.0 out of 5 stars Steal of a Deal
I buy cheapo guitars and deck them out with stuff like paint, wood burning, whatnot... When I saw the price on this, I couldn't believe it. I figured it either wouldn't be a real Epiphone, or it'd be a piece of cardboard with strings. But when I got it and played on it, I was completely blown away. Even with the factory strings on it, it plays better than my $4,000 Martin. None of the custom jobs have ever affected the sound quality of my other guitars that I've noticed, but this Epiphone sounds so good, I don't want to risk it. Can't say enough good things about it. Deal of a lifetime. (Footnote: I couldn't find anything that said if this guitar had a pickup or not. Heads up, it doesn't. If you're gonna want to amp it, you'll need to get a pickup.)
1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Came defective and since it was a gift we didn’t realize until it was past the 30 days. Now have to go through epiphone as Bolo doesn’t even give an option for me to try to return. One of the pegs had a defective pieceAnd a string popped immediately.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar for money

I had to spend few dollars and an hours drive to fix that. Later, in few months, it didnt sound quite right.

Good coal miners guitar.
Ok from a novice point of view, this Squire FT 100 is a fairly decent guitar, the build is of a better quality that other cheaper piece's I looked at. The action came well set up in my opinion, looking at clips on how to set up an acoustic, the string height was correct and no truss rod adjustment needed. Now the sound, it's full and has a decent warm tone with clear hi frequencies, but these are factory unbranded light strings kinda a custom .011-.052 thickness, actually lighter than the branded ones on the DR 100. The strings have made my fingers look like I've got em caught in an oily bicycle chain, but in time this eased off. As they are lower standard strings, I've now swapped em for a better brand, these sound better to my liking, and no coal miners finger. : )So for 99 quid (pounds), with decent build, sound and a nice sunburst design, I'd say for a first or even intimediat player it's not a bad choice. Just have some soap on hand! ; )
