I purchased this because I only have a few hours a day to work on floors, and renting several days in a row from one of the big box stores would have been much more expensive.This nailer installed almost 500 sqft. of 3/4" x 3 1/4" Red Oak hardwood right out of the box without any issues at all. I used Bostitch staples for this job and there were no misfires, jams, or any other issues. I kept my small compressor above 75psi at all times to ensure that I wouldn't have any issues driving staples in, and with a firm swing of the included hammer, it worked perfectly. Due to its heavy weight, the hammer helped me slide each plank into place and lock them together tightly before nailing, which I was having much difficulty with using a normal hammer.I have yet to try using cleats, but this gun has been very reliable so far with the staples and I don't expect to run into any issues. It's been a pleasure to use and I look forward to keeping it in my arsenal. I would highly recommend this nailer and I would definitely purchase it again.

The base was a bit too rounded for establishing an exact edge against the board, which made it more difficult to staple. I did figure it out after using it for a while, but even after several days, had some staples that split the tongue a bit. Also, it came with a 3/4 and 5/8” base, but I needed 1/2” base. The 5/8” worked pretty good. Recommendation with buying the product was 2” staples, which turned out to be too long. I’d go with 1 1/2” next time. Overall, though, it worked pretty well! I don’t know what “thickness” means in the star rating section.

Does what's it is intended to do. I highly recommend getting the lightweight one since you will be using this for hours on end when installing floors. I only had a couple "miss-fires" which were due to me not swinging the hammer with enough force. The strike swing does not have to be really hard, it's just after using this for hours you can get complacent and swing light causing a nail to not penetrate the hardwood all the way. When this happened I took and electric grinding wheel and cut the exposed part of the nail off (be careful to not let the cut portion of the nail lay on your flooring as it will be red hot and will scorch it.My daughter and me put down around 400 sq ft of 3/4 inch prefinished oak using this and had no issues.I recommend wrapping the hammer head with blue painter's tape for when you use this real close to walls as the hammer can scare the walls when it brushes against them during the recoil off of the nailer's strike plate.I set my air compressor on 110 psi and it worked great.No issue with the foot plate of the nailer scratching or damaging the flooring during installation.A MUST HAVE TOOL FOR LAYING HARDWOOD FLOORING!!!!Pay a little more for the lighter nailer.

The nameplate for the flooring thickness is labeled wrong, the nails would not enter the tracking plate, and they were the correct gauge, so I tried the correct gauge staples second staple jammed but the hammer is really nice. Do not purchase. This was returned.

I installed about 250 sq ft of maple flooring with the NuMax. I used the cleats rather than the nails, as they looked like they would have more gripping power. I had used a Hitachi finish nailer on previous projects with good success, but I liked the NuMax better, even though it requires a mallet swing for each cleat, rather than just a trigger pull. I found it faster because the NuMax lines right up with the inside corner of the flooring tongue, whereas the aiming of the Hitachi was more difficult for my senior skills. Also, the impact of the nailer would "snug up" slightly spaced adjacent pieces of flooring where the Hitachi needed some sort of independent lever to bring the flooring together. And the price is great!

I was unsure about this floor nailer just because you usually lose quality with an inexpensive product. I only needed to install an oak floor in my own home so I can't speak to the long term durability of the tool. I installed a standard 2-1/4" x 3/4" tongue and groove oak floor with cleats and this nailer worked great. I spent about two minutes adjusting the air pressure to get it just right. I think I did 5 test shots before getting the pressure and strike force just right then just went to work and never had an issue throughout the project. I only used 2000 cleats but the tool worked as well on the last shot as the first. Buying this nailer instead of renting some beat up nailer for a similar cost when you factor in a couple of days rental plus picking up and dropping off is a no brainer. The quality exceeded my expectations.

It will nail a floor down but I had an issue with it feeling a "positive" stop against the board when about to nail. This nailer has a stamped guide which is rounded whereas a more expensive unit has a sharp edged machined or extruded guide making the placement more decisive. The rounded guide edge of this unit too easily slips past the edge of the board resulting in my case in a dented and cracked edge of the flooring.

I have been using it a lot to install new flooring and in my opinion is amazing for its price, delivers the nail or staple very deep into the wood ensuring tight and solid hold. Overall good product

Great gun for the price.Used it to put hardwood down in my living room. Saved me from having to rent and was able to work at my own pace.Didn't have any issues or missed hits.Would recommend for home use.
