This is a urethane based adhesive. There are several of them available on the market today, and this is the best known of the bunch. That doesn't mean it is any better than the others, but certainly not any worse either. When you make this purchase you are faced with the question of how large of a bottle to purchase. I would recommend that you think carefully about this. For most wood applications, it doesn't take a lot of this glue to do the job. Here is an example... I had to completely refit and glue up a set of eight (8) dining room chairs. All of the original glue joints were working loose. The original glue used was one of the standard white or yellow "carpenter's" glues. They worked well for more than ten years, but eventually failed due to rocking motions and sliding them across the floor. I completely refit and glued up all eight of those chairs with this one 4 ounce bottle. So, only choose the larger bottles if you have large projects or you are "sloppy" or "over generous" with your application rates (Incidentally...more is NOT better..!!).This glue works as advertised. It is incredibly strong and waterproof. One of the main features (and concerns..) is it's tendency to expand and fill openings. If you have a tight fit and are securely clamped, the glue will tend to penetrate into the softer wood substrates and fill all of the wood pores and the available space. This is a GOOD thing. If, on the other hand, your joint is not fitted tightly, the glue will still expand and will fill available space but will not penetrate into the wood as much. This is still better than the older carpenter's glues in this respect. But you need to clamp securely to get the best results. In any event, this glue is like all urethane glues. It requires a certain amount of moisture or humidity in and around the joint for the glue to set properly. This is a difficult concept for some folks to understand. This glue will not perform as intended if the materials are very dry and the humidity in the air is low. It NEEDS some amount of moisture in some manner for the glue to function as designed and to reach maximum strength. When I use this product I always moisten the surface of the wood slightly. I use a small sponge that is wrung out almost dry and then rub it firmly across the wood of the joint enough so that the moisture is evident. The wood will turn slightly darker as it absorbs moisture. Wait for about five minutes and then do it again. You want the wood to be very slightly damp only...NOT wet or dripping water. The glue will take care of the rest..!!! Another thing to remember is that the glue does expand... It will push out of the joint. Watch for the glue and the bubbly look and clean it off as you wait for it to set. Keep a dry cloth handy and one dampened with paint thinner or a similar solvent. Once the glue sets completely and dries, you will meet a file or a chisel to remove it.....The last thing to remember is that this glue is activated by moisture and will set up in the nozzle and the bottle if you are not careful. So, here is a professional tip for you.... You can squeeze the bottle slightly to remove the air before you put on the cap. This is what the manufacturer recommends...and it works okay as long as the bottle is nearly full. As the bottle empties, it is harder and harder to achieve the "full bottle" situation. SO.... When you are ready to end your project and wish to keep the rest of the glue for next time..... Remove the cap and drop CLEAN and DRY marbles or steel balls into the bottle. REMEMBER, clean and dry.!! The balls will take up the available space and force the air out of the bottle as the level of the glue rises toward the top. When it gets almost to the top, replace the lid TIGHTLY and then gently squeeze the bottle to remove the very last remnants of air before tightening down the twist cap. If you can keep the bottle full (in some way..) the glue will last a lot longer in the bottle. It will still eventually harden....that is one of the detractors of this glue.... but it will last a lot longer.Incidentally, for those who care, you can do almost the same thing with other products like this. What damages left over paint the most is a partially filled can. To stop it, just replace the lid very tightly and then turn the can upside down. the paint will then stay at the top, and all of the skin and crap will be at the bottom of the can. Same with other wood finishes like polyurethane or varnish or ...??? Just fill the can with marbles (if its a small can..) or tightly close the container and store upside down. It won't keep forever, but it will allow you to store it for awhile ... maybe until your next use.!!!!Anyway, Gorilla Glue.... Five stars. Excellent product when used as designed. Very high strength and waterproof. Can't ask for more than that....
5.0 out of 5 stars This stuff is amazing, strong
This is my first Bolo review. I have been using gorilla glue for years for a variety of projects around the house. This stuff is amazing, strong, and works with every material I've tried. More recently an abberant soccer ball collided with the passenger side mirror in our mazda 3, breaking the plastic cleanly at the mount. After getting a quote for>150$ for a new side mirror (can't buy the mount separately) I figured I would try some good ol gorilla glue. initially a temporary measure for getting around town, I have since taken this car on many road trips from NC including to upstate NY in the snow, Ohio in -5 degree weather, and Florida in the 90s. The mirror has not budged. It has been 7 months now and i'm not considering replacing the mirror anymore. If this fails (which im not sure it will) I will just glue it again. I am amazed by this product and recommend it to everyone I know. forget epoxy.By the way, gorilla tape is equally amazing. Two products I always have around the house.Cons are that it dries up in the tube when exposed to air. In the future I will buy culture smaller containers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Essential tool for a variety of fixes.
I've had many of these little bottles of Gorilla Glue, if I could remember where I put them, I would not need to buy them so often, but they work like a charm. We had a chair that needed a repair, because the wooden frame underneath was cracking, and the arm rest was pushed out of the normal position. I tried to screw it together, but the frame of the chair did not have enough wood material, and I was lacking the 'chair repair' skills that were likely needed for such a job. Enter Gorilla Glue. It's noted that one of the primary uses are on wood. And that's no joke. I followed the directions, wetting the wood a bit, then applying glue to the area, and put pressure on the whole deal to make sure it was not going to move when I walked away. 24 hours later and the job was done. Gorilla Glue expands a bit when applied, so be careful if you're putting it somewhere that can be seen. But my chair project had the repair under fabric, so I could go bananas, and not worry about the expandable nature of this powerful magic bond.I'm sure it will come in handy for other repair jobs, as I'm better with glue than I am with normal 'fix it' tools.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent glue for cutting boards.
I have used a lot of this glue it is a very good glue to use. I got the 36 ounce bottle it’s a little bit heavy to handle, I would recommend a smaller bottle if you don’t have a lot to glue.

Great Stuff!
I have used Gorilla glue for a few years now and have found it to be very good for many applications. One of the last was around October 2015 on the front plastic air grill on my van in front of the windshield. At a point where one of the screws attached it, the plastic had cracked and parted. I was first skeptical about using gorilla glue and was considering buying a rapid set crazy glue. Anyway, I cleaned by scraping any residue of dirt and wax away, carefully cleaned the matting surfaces with lacquer thinner and let dry. Then apply a tiny bit of gorilla glue with a toothpic to each surface and then attach and tap together. Once dry, remove the tap and apply another nice bead of gorilla glue to fill the void. One more thin bead after that had dried to fill out and smooth the plastic. To my surprise, it went through a harsh winter in Canada with extreme cold fluctuations and now all summer this year with high temperature fluctuations. I have stressed it and banged it "softly" and it has held tight! Unfortunately, it dries to a yellow buff color and so in the spring I had used a black tint and it is barely visible now.Just make sure that you used plenty of drop clothe, paper or cardboard around your work to catch any spilling or drips. It practically flows like water and has a tenacious gummy stick when wet.TonyOntario. Canada
