I bought this item on sale for my work office. The base is lightweight (seems cheaply made), and the lid seems cheap too. The kettle does not fight tightly on the base; it rocks. However, it works well. It boils my water as quickly as my other electric tea kettle (different make/manufacturer). This kettle boils just a bit longer than my other one to ensure the water is up to temp and stays up to temp, and I really like that so my water stays hot for a while. It has a good pour spout (doesn't pour too little/much at once). It is easy to use. Shuts off once done boiling which is a great safety feature.

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! I use mine at least 3 times each day, sometimes 4 (filled up) boiling my water - before I drink it. The automatic cut off is what I like the most. I love the blue hue. It gives your kitchen a bright sophisticated uplift. Depending on your water cleanliness - you may need to pour out the sediment more often than usual.

This tea kettle is a replacement for a very similar one (sold under a different brand). Although the kettle is very basic–it just boils water and then automatically shuts off–it does its job well. The heating element brings water to a boil quickly and then shuts off after a few seconds reaching the boiling point.This new kettle, by MegaChef, is superior to the one it's replacing in several respects. Most importantly, its lid is lifted by pressing a button at the top of the handle (the previous one required lifting the lid manually with a fragile latch). The hinge eventually wore out from the stress placed on the lid. The MegaChef kettle avoids this problem with its push-button solution. The second improvement is the quick shut-off of the heating element once the water boils. The older kettle would boil for ca. 30 seconds unless manually shut off. Third, the MegaChef kettle handle is slightly lighter, making it easier to handle.The kettle comes with a 90-day warranty, which can be extended to a year in exchange for a product review (see photo). This is a clever strategy to garner reviews, but in this instance, I'm glad to comply given how well the kettle has performed so far (still on Day 1, but don't anticipate any issues going forward).The base is somewhat lighter in weight than the previous kettle but otherwise appears solidly constructed. The kettle itself is mostly glass. The underside of the lid is plastic but this is unlikely to pose any health issue (the previous one had a stainless steel lid, top and bottom).Overall, I'm pleased with the kettle, sufficiently so as to be tempted to buy a second one to keep as a spare.
