The Shimano ST-EF500 dual brake/shift lever features reach adjust technology and an optical gear display. 4-finger lever. Compatible with cantilever, roller, linear-pull and mechanical disc brakes. Equipped with a reach adjust mechanism that allows for the distance from handlebar to lever to be adjusted in order to suit any hand size and riding preference. The optical gear display tells you which gear position is selected while riding. EZ Fire Plus design features 2 shift levers, with the upshift lever located at the top where it is easy to see.

This is pretty much an exact replacement for the one that came with my bike. Having failed to lubricate my cable for too long, my shifter recently gave out. This comes with a new shifter cable pre-installed, and is so very nice. (I also replaced my chain and rear derailleur at the same time, as well as lubed the outer cables)

I thought that you couldn't use newer Shimano spacing on an older Shimano bike-- I read it somewhere. Then I lost my salvaged 7x shifter that I was going to replace the broken one on my 1989 Montare with because I didn't get to it right away when my back hurt. So $20 for a new shifter, but it was fairly easy to install and just still requires some adjustment, but it looks like it is working fine with my old spacings. (Then two day after install found my old salvage 7x shifter that had been missing for years). The shifter seem fine if a little large compared to my older shifters. They gave me a new derailleur cable, but no brake cable. It's nice to have a fully functioning bike back.

Most of big name manufacturers of kid bikes sizes 20-24 always put rotating Shimano shifter which is pain to use specially for little kids hands. I replaced it and the brake handle with this wonderful combo which was super quick to install And clean more simplified and easier to use because they are spaced right.

For older mountain bikes, this is a great shifter and brake combo. Love the trigger and thumb controls for shifting. Hand never bumps shift accidentally like other shifters. The cable comes already threaded into the shifter (I dont think the shifter cable is replaceable but I could be wrong ). Works great on a early 2000 model Diamondback Sorrento mtn bike.

J'ai commandé deux freins shifter shimano EF 500 de deux fournisseurs différent, un trois et un sept vitesses, un est arrivé dans une boite shimano l'autre dans un sac no name, un avait un ajustement pour V-Brake ou cantilever pas l'autre un avait une barre pour trois doigts l'autre pour deux, je ne suis pas certain que ce soit du véritable shimano ou une copie chinoise malgré le fait qu'il soit écrit shimano dessus et que la description mentionne fabricant Shimano, il fonctionne quand meme bien et est 25$ moins chère que celui que je préfère.
