Some were very easy to break. Others ... my experience was closer to 80% than 90%, but I use them for a non-profit Kids' Camp, and the kids love seeing how an ordinary rock can turn into something so beautiful. This is the 2nd set I've bought from this brand. The interior colors are primarily white, but they are stunning nonetheless. I will order from them again for next year.

My grandsons love them! So glad for the suggestion to put the geode in a sock and tap gently. Really worked! Just know that these are mostly white. If they were colored, those would be gems and they would be much more valuable. But we were very happy with them.

These are AWESOME!!! My daughter wanted a “crystal” birthday party and we did a little geode breaking. All the kids were thrilled with their geodes. They are beautiful and kid size. Perfect for party events

The media could not be loaded. Bought these for the kids. Already open 1/2 of them. Very pretty.I used a small piece of granite curbstone that was cut Square. I used two hammers there were actually upholstery hammers. I placed the rock on the piece of granite, covered it with a piece of fleece or sweatshirt fabric. The first one I hit too hard and it shattered in many pieces. After that, I just tapped it gently to get larger pieces! I plan to wire wrap them after I file off the shop edges and add some additional crystals! I am pleased with them, however I did expect to have a little bit of color with some of them. They are very dusty and dirty so you might want to brush them off first I didn’t and I regret it also be careful with your hands cause some of the crystals splinter like very sharp pieces of glass. I would Definitely safety glasses, and a vinyl glove, the black kind that the car mechanics use. Overall, I’m very pleased!So far the variety wasn’t vast. All of the ones that I open so far are white inside with tiny crystals. I think it’s a great educational project for children. If you buy the books about rocks and how geodes are created. The sale price I paid for the small ones was a great value For my money!I can’t stop singing “hi ho hi ho off to work I go! “🎶🎼🎶

I used them for geology day with my students, grades TK-1st and they loved this activity. I placed them in socks as directed. (I did go thru quite a few pairs, so stock up on old socks prior to your planned activity). When place them in their goodie bags their eyes lit up when they saw all the sparkle in their geode!

Bought these for an Easter party, they were a hit for kids ages 2-17 (even parents). One was a dud but all others had crystals inside. I would say these were the highlight of the rock collections the kids created from the Easter egg hunt.

Ordered two boxes, and I would say between 1/3 to 1/2 of them weren’t geodes but solid nodules of quartz. Still fun, but those ones took a TON of work for kids to break open even with rock hammers and chisels. Had them for a group of 4/5 grade kids. You could know which was a geode vs a nodule by weight. Kids had a great time, but do not count on every rock being an easily cracked geode. I talked with other educators who have used this product and they have similar stories.

This activity is absolutely superb and perfect for enjoying with every member of your family or friends. The Quartz crystals inside are incredibly well-defined, with most of them being clean and either small crystals or larger, well-grown point quartz. There may be 1 or 2 that are full or undesirable, but overall, this is one of the coolest gifts you can give, especially if the recipient is a fan of mineral specimens. I highly recommend it!
