1.0 out of 5 stars Larry Flynt made no apologies for the magazine he made famous as the most decadent of publications He enjoyed the fame.

Nothing presented to view Larry Flynt as anthing other than we already knew. The story portrays Mr Flynt as a man who set out to sell a magazine that would represent the seedier side of sex and make money in the process.

3.0 out of 5 stars A historical look at a free speech vs social decency of the 70's

T.M. · July 10, 2015

It is a interesting history lesson on our social norms of the time. It is always sad to see things from the 70's cause the film quality was really bad and combine that with the incredibly bad hair and clothing styles for both men and women durning that period. You look at anything filmed durning the 70's a wedding, a prom date, a picnic and they all look like the beginings of a bad prono movie. But it is a good social history lesson of the morals of that time.

1.0 out of 5 stars boring

R.H. · August 21, 2015

Boring presentation with awful music. I kinda admire Larry for his courage to stand up to the jerks who would take away our freedoms, so I was interested, but couldn't stomach the music and the presentation was putting me to sleep

5.0 out of 5 stars Larry Flynt - hero of the American people.

D. · August 3, 2015

Larry Flynt is one of the bravest individuals I have ever heard about. He is a magazine publisher who was completely railroaded by our government. He was within his rights to publish his magazine as much as Hugh Hefner (Playboy) and Bob Guccione (Penthouse). Why was the government so adamant about putting him away? Because of the humor in the magazine. He was never afraid to print what he wanted. He makes no excuses for himself or his staff, who I also admire because of their tenacity to continue to back Larry when the going got real tough. They continued to print his magazine in the same format as Larry did. Kudos to all of them. Larry opened a lot of doors to freedom that remained closed until he started pounding on those doors. I personally would love to vote for him for President.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good film!

L.P. · August 24, 2015

It really surprised me how good this documentary was! Judging from the negative reviews I expected it to be gauche and an over the top hypersexualized glorification of Flynt, but it wasn't! Maybe they weren't watching it with an open mind... This film was clear, concise, and it had a very good spectrum of topics aside from just Flynt. It was about the changing world of porn, about how Flynt's obnoxious battle with the government opened Pandora's Box and resulted in the mainstreaming of porn. They told the story of the people who worked with Hustler too, which was maybe my favorite aspect of the film. They worked inside the eye of the hurricane when it came to Flynt's mental illness and physical illness, but they managed to keep it together despite that and in spite of the raging drug decade of the 80s.Anyway, it was a surprisingly informative and well edited film. Give it a chance. It's not pornographic at all, but NSFW due to the breasts shown throughout.

2.0 out of 5 stars Approachable Gals

J.B. · December 2, 2015

It wasn't my cup of tea. If you're a fan of the magazine you'll probably be interested in the story behind it. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting shots of or video clips of the Hustler gals. Flynt doesn't want girls who are so beautiful that the average guy thinks he has no chance with them. He wants the Hustler buyers, regular guys, to think he's got a shot with the gals should he be lucky enough to ever to see one in the flesh.

3.0 out of 5 stars A worthy historical account, if brutally frank and self-agrandizing

W.I.C. · June 10, 2015

I find frankness about sex and sexuality, about depravity and perversion, about what is versus what's right, a deeply uncomfortable and depressing subject. And yet, many very solid points recommend this movie, cheif among them, the honesty and frankness that gets turned back upon the editorial staff and their decisions at Hustler. It's not surprising that they remain quite self-congratulatory, yet there remain many ways, especially in the arena of civil rights, where Larry Flint and his minions truly deserve accolades.

3.0 out of 5 stars well worth watching if you like watching any erotic movies at all. He helped keep him in the main stream.

S.A.S. · November 1, 2015

I thought It was a good portray of all the trials and tribulations he had to go through to make things work for him. He believed in something and stuck to his guns. Some of our current laws are what they are all because of him. He was a good man no matter what anyone thinks.
