Good little table if you understand this is a light weight compound table to be used for small projects. The dimensions of the unit are; table 12" x 3 1/2", overall height is 3", X & Y movement is 1 3/4" x 7 7/8". Table is aluminum, base is cast iron, adjusting screws are steal with brass nuts. Gibs are brass with very small steal screws. Adjusting the gibs will remove all the slack in the table. I took this little table apart before mounting it to my mini wood lathe to make sure it was made from solid materials. It definitely is. Appears to be made well. I've made light passes on mild steal successfully, works great with soft metals and wood. The only cons are, the dials turn freely, so don't count on them to make accurate cuts. Not a big deal if you square the table to you machine and take light cuts and the handles are plastic. Great for model building.

First off, I purchased this with the intent of trying to hack it into a CNC table for my baby drill press. This is not a piece of precision machine equipment, though if you're looking to increase your precision in drilling over adjusting by hand, it's a nice bit of kit.First, it doesn't come with the little handles. Ding one star for the disingenuous nature of the photo.Size:It's got a 300 x 100 mm travel, roughly one foot by four inches. That's about good for a mini-drill press.Construction is aluminum, the cheaper the better. The extrusions are pretty decent factory-ware. The slider table and mount (the green bits) look to be cast and trimmed. The tightness is adjustable via a set of brass bearing strips (oil-bronze would have been better), so periodic maintenance should include checking the tightness of these screw-nut adjustment doo-hickeys.The screw drive is a regular 8mm threaded rod. It will work for positioning, but this is not a milling table. The knobs are marked, but I make no assumptions as to any measurement other than marks on a dial. The end caps are plastic bits with an aluminum plate insert. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I rather doubt that there is any kind of bearing other than threaded rod on plastic and aluminum. The fun parts:o The 8mm threaded rod happens to be the same diameter as T8 ACME threaded rod, which is readily available, along with all the bits to actually provide precision and accuracy.o The 100 and 300 mm stages are interchangeable.I ordered a second one. My plan is to make two functional CNC XY tables, one 100 x 100 mm and one 300 x 300. I have no idea whether it will work or not but it seems like fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works, But Just Barely

    A.C. · January 23, 2025

This does the job of holding work in place. I'm using it with a Dremel drill press as a makeshift vertical mill. The wheels are stiff. The "in" direction is different for each axis. The increments on the wheels are useless as the collars rotate unpredictably. The left-right wheel has an incredible amount of slop which I need to track down. Worst of all, rotating the wheel counter-clockwise just backed out the lock nut on the end.For the price, and to do a few jobs, it's not a bad tool but they could have improved it a lot for very little.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and low cost x/y table for light hobby use

    E.i.O. · August 12, 2016

Great for low cost conversion of standard table top drill to light duty milling or x/ y coordinate drilling machine. I wanted it for PCB and making small parts. It is great for light hobby use, but not intended for machining heavy cast iron or stainless steel! Before using it, I took out the lead screws, applied Teflon grease in small amounts on sll active interfaces incl screws, and re-adjusted the lead screw nuts and dovetails to near zero backlash but not hard to crank. Dovetails were however pretty good adjusted as delivered to start with. Then work it in and out full stroke a few times for fine honing or re-adjust. - I just wish they used a true 1 or 2 mm screw pitch instead of their odd M8 x 1.25 choice. Not so easy to convert and count turns on the crank.

1.0 out of 5 stars Falls apart

    R.C. · September 29, 2019

At first I was excited because it appeared sturdy, well-made, and refined. But after bolting it to my drill press table, and trying to actually use it, I found the ‘clamps’ (a plate, and two and nuts) that it came with to be worthless. Then, I found that it falls apart if you accidentally rotate one extra wind at the end of the plate’s travel. And coming back the other way, the whole thing has to be ‘pushed’ to stay with the adjustment crank/wheel, or it comes off too. Fairly disappointing in all, but I may have been hoping for too much for this price.

With a little rework, it is working much better. It is a little lighter weight of material then I though it be though. I was not looking for a high end table or I would of purchase it from a machine shop supply. What bothered me was that they shipped it into the US as "a product sample and of no monetary value", on the customs paperwork; to probably beat any import tax, if there was any.

5.0 out of 5 stars Woodworking Vice Accuracy Milling, Machinist Accuracy Drilling

    P.E. · April 13, 2020

I use this for making electric guitar parts. It has a bit of slop in the vice movement screws that may be able to be tightened with an adjustment. It has movable jaws on both sides of the vice that clamps the work material and that feature was most useful. So far, it is perfect for my use which demands woodworking precision. I do not think a machinist would be elated because there isn't that kind of precision - except for drilling holes on a medium sized or bigger drill press. Milling: too much slop for machinist precision. Drilling: very accurate hole locator when used with a medium sized or larger drill press. This cross vice is much more accurate than a manual set up, and it tends to better maintain the work in that position even if the punch was off center.

can't beat the price, it is a light duty productthat is great for small home project. handles are a little small for my liking. some lube and a bit of tightening really helped it out

The end nuts on both of the slide screws come off easily and I have had to tighten them frequently

    R.D. · May 19, 2017

It basically works as advertised. As others have pointed out, in order to eliminate play in the slides the set screw gibs have to be quite tight. This makes the table harder to move. The end nuts on both of the slide screws come off easily and I have had to tighten them frequently. However, I was able to do some milling using my drill press and an end mill. I used a 3/16 " and 3/8 " 4 flute end mill. I would recommend this item to anyone who wants to learn some basic milling. This unit was priced at 1/2 of some of the competitors.

I don't see how anyone could use it for machining, if precision is required. However, I bought this for micro soldering. Soldering a row of tiny pins to a circuit board, while looking through a microscope, a difficult task made much easier by this tool. Fix your work to the table (usually tape), and use the hand wheels to keep your area of interest centered in the microscope's field of view. The aluminum table is unaffected by the occasional bump from a hot soldering iron. A little pricey for what you get, but for me, well worth the money.
