The Tabla is a popular Indian percussion instrument used in Classical, popular religious music of Indian sub continent and Hindustani Classical music. The term Tabla is derived from a Sanskrit word which means “Drum”. Tabla is a pair of Drums. It consist of a small right hand Drum called “Dayan” and a larger left hand Drum called “Bayan” and The right hand drum is made up of SHESHAM wood and the left hand larger Drum is Made by Iron. The diameter of small Drum at the membrane may run from just under 5 inches to over 6 Inches approx and that of larger Drum will be from 9 Inches to 10 Inches to approx. Both Drums feature goat skin drum heads and camel leather straps to adjust the pitch. The large black spot on Tablas surfaces are a mixture of gum soot and iron filing. There functions is to create the Bell – like timbre that is characteristics Of the instrument, Tabla is made with alluring visual Harmony Enticing percussionists to experience the Rhythms of traditions. Tabla set is very unique item and requires lot of dedicated hours to prepare the one in perfect finish and style.
