Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and raised in the city of Montreal, 23 year-old Canadian artist Kaytranada is widely regarded as one of the most important new producers in the musical landscape today. Since the age of fourteen, when he first began to DJ and when his brother introduced him to music production software, his output has been relentless. As he explains, “after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn’t stop making beats,” pumping out a beat a day for the next couple of years and soon after self-releasing a series of EPs and beat tapes that quickly began to expand his reach. Single releases like “Drive Me Crazy” with Vic Mensa and “Leave Me Alone” with Shay Lia soon spread his name like wildfire and gained listens reaching far into the millions. In addition to that he’s produced for artists such as Mobb Deep, Kali Uchis, Freddie Gibbs, The Internet, & Talib Kweli and remixed the likes of Disclosure, Pharrell, Missy Elliot, Janet Jackson, and others. Kaytranada soon cemented his reputation and his sound; an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to J Dilla’s, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines. Last year he was tapped by the legendary Rick Rubin who has acted as a mentor, eventually signing him to a publishing relationship. 99.9% will be Kaytranada’s first debut album on XL Recordings. The 15-track album includes guest vocals from Anderson .Paak, AlunaGeorge, BADBADNOTGOOD, Craig David, Syd, Little Dragon, Goldlink and more.

Man, When I tell you I was HOOKED, it was awesome, The production was amazing, The features were amazing! I stayed listening to this album on repeat for MONTHS. I’m very proud to have this album in my vinyl collection, from time to time I still love to get it and relisten to it while drawing or doing homework! My Favorite Songs Are “You’re The One”, “Vivid Dreams” (love the transition at the end of you’re the one to vivid dreams), “Drive Me Crazy”, and “One Too Many”

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Often cited as the Best Debut Album of 2016. These songs are crafted by a master, a sheik, someone not of this earth. From beginning to end, and back again a fourth time through, I simply cannot stop listening to this perfection. This is a collection of songs made by a human filled with love. Kaytranada has made The Perfect Album, The Album of Ages. If you know your way around a decent funk/rhythm-based artist, Kaytranada will eviscerate your musical palate in the best way possible. This is an incredible collection of unforgettable tracks that I simply cannot stop listening to, over and over. This is one of the finest albums I've ever enjoyed.

Kaytranada! I saw him live in Chicago a few months ago and was blown away. His ability to mix so many different genres of music together and make it all into something cohesive and catchy is phenomenal. I had listened to him before on spotify but after seeing him live decided I had to pick up his vinyl. It's definitely one of those records that you can play start-to-finish at a party and everyone dances along and has fun for the entire duration. It's a perfect mix of dance, some 90's/80's retro vibe, and current rap. He really takes you for a ride through all different genres but it flows together so perfectly that you're transported from each track to the next, dancing along the entire way. There aren't many DJ's that I feel comfortable putting on in basically any setting, but Kaytranada is one of them. Because of his versatility it's perfect for any time. Glad to have it on wax!

An absolutely exceptional piece of work... great seeing Craig David doing his thing on my fave cut, "Got It Good". Wonderful musical kaleidoscope various styles of music & even back in Kay' was solely on the production board (gettin' his name up), I had quite the inkling even back then that he'd be a beast - by the time this release would drop.Even my preconceived notion was surpassed - definite must-grab (clear some shelf space for some awards for this one, Kay'!)

I was worried for the quality and legitimacy of the pressing from the low resolution, dull colored product image, but I took a chance. It's real! Came in the original plastic wrap with a "99.9%" Sun sticker on it, the sleeve was vibrantly colored and it's wonderful pressing. Glad my fears weren't realized. If you love this album and are a record collector you have no need to worry, grab this one!

As of right now this album is my album of the year. Kaytranada pulled out all the stops and provided track after track of masterful work with great collaborators. Speaking of the collaborators he brought in a little of everyone from Badbadnotgood to Anderson .Paak to Little Dragon and made them all shine. I highly recommend this to anyone that loves good production.

A cross between Flying Lotus and 9th Wonder, Kaytranada is the next best producer on the come up. While his discography is long and mostly available on band camp, this serves as a great Magnus opus for the mainstream crowd. There is a bonus track on his website if you play the game on there. It's called Nobody Beats the Kay.

This album is FANTASTIC. I absolutely love it. And the album itself deserves 5 stars. But the product page promised a CD to be bundled with the vinyl and it was not anywhere to be found when the packaging was opened. Which is fine, but I do enjoy being able to have some way to get my music digital so I can listen to it on the go as well as at home on my turntable, whether it be via CD or a digital download card (which was also not included with the record).
Amazing album, great pressing.

Questo disco prodotto da Kaytranada è semplicemente storico, è sicuramente il suo miglior prodotto, in Italia è poco conosciuto (anche perché questo è un genere musicale che non incontra i gusti della massa) ma è veramente bravo. Invito tutti ad ascoltarlo sulle varie piattaforme musicali per farsi un'idea del genere di musica che produce, il resto verrà da sé!
Great album, especially on vinyl
Great album of Kaytranada. Lot's of strictly instrumental tracks, but also great songs with rappers and singers. Music.
