5.0 out of 5 stars Lancets
Easy to use. Less painful.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Choice
This my third time buying these, just love that they don't hurt when applied to fingers. Thumbs up.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gets me to bleed and doesn't hurt compared to most
Like my headline says, these are 100 times better than what comes in a new kit from a doctor's office. The device makes the stick a surprise which is nice because I don't fully want to know when I stick myself. I also understand that later on after years of testing i will need to go to a thicker needle but for now these are awesome. Suggestion, Hold the unit tight to the skin, and push on your finger making it a bit red, stick it and push some blood out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Glucose lancets
Very easy to use, almost painless.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, good way to obtain a blood sample
Product is good, however the packaging can be better, the box arrived squashed in the bag, contents were in the envelope. Should be shipped in cardboard box.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, easy to dispose of
These lancets are easy to use and I feel much more comfortable handling them than regular lancets. They are solid in your hand and easier to hold onto. They pop the needle out hard so you get a good, quick stab. It's painful if you hit the finger in the wrong spot, but mostly not uncomfortable at all. I get a good amount of blood, then the hole closes quickly, as it should with a good lancet. Worth using and worth paying a bit more for a safety lancet rather than a normal one.
2.0 out of 5 stars Painful and aggressive compared to other safety lancets
We're new to diabetes here and just recently stumbled across the fact that safety lancets exist. So much more convenient than changing lancets in the old fashioned finger poker that came with the 'Beetus Starter Kit. Plus, the old fashioned one tended to strike too hard and would sting its intended victim. I purchased these Unistik 3 safety lancets as well as a starter pack of Pip lancets (available on Bolo as well) so we could compare. The Unistik lancets are 30 gauge and strike 1.5mm deep. The Pip blue lancets are 30 gauge and strike 1mm deep. See photos for a side by side comparison of the two different brands. The Pip purple lancets are 30 gauge and strike 1.6mm deep. The Pip orange lancets are 28 gauge (thicker needle) and strike 1.8mm deep. By comparison, the lancets that came with the meter starter kit were 33gauge (finer needle) and we would usually set it to lance at a 3 out of 10, so not very deep. After giving both an honest test drive, we feel the Unistiks honestly strike too hard. I believe the little inner spring is under too much tension. They emit a loud snap when they strike. They sting and can even leave tiny bruises on your fingers for a few hours. One fingertip continued to feel painful for a few hours afterwards. That hasn't happened with any other lancet or lancing device. They also strike a bit too deep. Modern meters only require a tiny drop of blood, far less than these lancets produce. We wanted to give these a try because of the little circular raised dot pattern on the end that touches the fingertip. According to the manufacturer, these raised dots are meant to give your brain a different sensation to focus on, to detract from the pain sensation. In practice, that does not seem to be true; in order to feel the dots, you'd have to press this lancet very hard to your fingertip, which would cause it to strike even deeper. On top of all of this, the Unistiks' design uses a lot of plastic rather unnecessarily. They're quite bulky. We found the Pip lancets to range from genuinely painless to producing only a mild poking sensation. (The first use, I got ticked off, thinking, "Aw man, it didn't even work, and now I've wasted one." I was pretty surprised when I realized it had, in fact, worked. It had just been painless.) I think this is due to the fact that their springs don't appear to be as strong or under as much tension as the Unistiks'. They only emit a tiny little click when they lance. The blue ones also don't puncture as deep as the Unistiks, which works just fine for the micro-drop meters nowadays. The Pip *purple* lancets, fyi, strike about as deep as these Unistiks, but while they produce more blood than the blue Pips, they also don't hurt as much as the Unistiks. We have not tried the Pip orange lancets because they're larger and longer than anything needed right now, and I'm not interested in willfully hurting anyone. Lord knows I'm doing enough of that as I try to use up the rest of these painful Unistik lancets.Unistik final rating: 2 stars for convenience. So glad I only got a box of 25- too painful and aggressive to repurchase.
