Bought this lovely little box to hold a gift card for Christmas. Seemed like a simple enough plan. I had no desire to solve the puzzle so I went straight to the instructions. The pictures indicated how to open the box and nothing seemed too challenging. Three days later I was preparing to burn the still unopened box. Never have I felt so certain an inanimate object was refusing to open out of sheer spite. Is it hard to open? Not at all. Am I incapable of interpreting instructive illustrations? 1000 times yes. My advice, give the box and the instructions to a child and they will open and hand it back to you in 10 seconds. Your blood pressure will thank you. The recipient figured it out in moments with no guidance. Humbling indeed.

Two of the three boxes we ordered worked perfectly. The middle, side connection piece of the third box fell off immediately as the wood was too tight and there was no wiggle room to open the box. It's easily glued back on after we shave down the wood a bit. Overall, this is a fun puzzle box, not easily figured out by the adults who spent quite a bit of time trying to open it. Everyone really liked the boxes and especially the gift money inside. The wood on each box varies by tone, all very unique.

This box is delightful and met my expectations. You can't see the grooves where you actually can pull out the drawer and without help (instructions) it's very difficult to figure out!

First, the product is advertised as featuring a hidden compartment in which one might place a "gift card"--this is simply false--the larger of the two compartment is too small for any gift card that I have ever seen. It will however, hold cash. The bigger problem is that, first, when the box is new, it is very hard to open -- the drawer sticks so that even you know how to open it, considerable strength is required to pull it loose (doubtful that any child could do this) -- we wanted to give the boxes to six children, so we opened and closed each one five times to loosen them a bit -- that worked on three of them, but on the other three, the third or fourth time they were opened, the "door" to the compartment broke off when the drawer was pulled open, rendering the box useless.

I plan to wood burn, or paint, designs (as clues) onto them, and make a treasure map \ escape room-like code to unlock them)CONS:• Not a lot of space inside• Wish there were more steps to open• Price is a bit high-Single-• Takes 1 Move\Step to open• 1 drawer\tray• Holds an average gift card (size from USA)-Double-• Takes 1 Move\Step to open• 2 drawers\trays• Does NOT hold a gift card, only folded money, and can fit a ring sized item in smaller drawerWhile I like the quality, 3 stars is for the price compared to how many steps it takes to open. It's a bit expensive

Not a puzzle box
I have been solving puzzle boxes for nearly 60 years. This is not a puzzle box. It has no sliding pieces. You just pull out one side. Then you can push out the other side. It is a tiny wooden box made with tight tolerances, and nothing more. Avoid this if you are looking for a puzzle box.
Amazing Gift
This priduct was purchased as a gift. The quality was very good. The quality of cibstruction was very good abd you could not see where the hidden compartments were located. When following the intructions ti was very easy to understand how to open. Overall it was an excellent purchase.
