Honda builds it's own transmissions, and will last longer user only Honda Fluid. I got 150K with off brands, and I am at 300 K on my ridgeline and 200 K on the Odyssey and no problems. I can used off brands in my Duramax Allison without problems, but the Honda requires the extra care if you want the LONG life!

Original owner of 2006 Honda pilot with 200,000+ miles , does not use oil and shifts like new. Change out your 3.96 quarts of transmission fluid every 10,000 miles to avoid shifting shutter .if you are experiencing shutter, drain the fluid , refill , drive for about 5 miles , drain and re-fill again . If the fluid is still dark on the stick ,, drain and refill again . At this point you should be good to go for 5000 miles until a drain and refill is needed . After the fluid is clean you can go 10,000 on the change. I drove my last vehicle from 1979 to 2003 and it was still running when I sold it. (Remember to recycle your fluids .}This may seem expensive but the cost of having the engine and trans pulled for a rebuild will scare the toughest mechanic .

I've used this on two separate vehicles (2005 and 2006 Saturn Vue with the 3.5 liter honda drivetrain). My first vehicle the 2005 went to 174k before it was rear ended and totaled. The Transmission never had any issues and I did the recommended drain/fills at the 100k and 150k intervals.When doing drain/fills, its recommended to do about 3-4 of them. Perform one, then drive about 100-200 miles and preform another, and so on until your fluid looks new when you drain. You will usually only get about 1/3-1/4th of the total fluid out of your transmission because a lot of it sits in your torque converter. there are ways to try and preform a flush. But drain fills are the safest and easiest way to change the fluid... They are usually recommended by the manufacturer over flushes.My newest car, the 2006, currently has 120k, and I just did the first set of drain/fills at 100k. Runs just as smooth as it ever has and I expect it to go another 150-200k if I don't get involved in another accident.Honda makes an excellent drivetrain, and with changing all your fluids as you are suppose to they seem to last forever.My local dealership was charging 2-3 times as much as getting a case through Bolo. Great deal here on an authentic product.

$120 for the fluid, $100 to local mechanic to do the Acura 3X drain and fill (every 30K miles.)That's $220. The stealership and indy shop wanted $580.
