Good drill drivers
I currently have 13 drill drivers in service in my shop and garage, and 4 of them are these Makita's, or the previous model. So that probably tells you something about whether I like them. They charge quickly and provide reasonable torque. They fit well in my hand. I'm not a big guy, about 5'8", and these are perfect. Observations: I dropped one of these drill drivers off a 5' ladder and it was dead -- the light came on but not the drill. I took it apart far enough to know there is no way to access the innards for diagnosis. I also have another on which the chuck loosens as you drill, which is weird and annoying. Overall though, these Makita's have provided, in some cases, decades of service and I think they are worth a look.

I bought this drill as a replacement for an old Makita drill that had given me good service. Works well so far and looks as if it will give me quality service.

Direct replacement for the unit that fell off my ladder. Batteries fit . I didn’t want to have to buy a complete kit with light and 1/4” impact so I ordered this to replace my broken drill and I’m back in business.
This product used to be good.
I used it for hammer drilling and it started to smoke. I let it cool down and then tried using it to cut out hole out of a panel and it started to burn up again. Makes an awsome paper weight. I had issues before with makita but this took the cake. I'm currently changing all my tools to DeWalt. I have not had any problems scince. Word to the wise makita is good but there drills are the worst quality. Not to mention the drill Ihad before I brought to customer service is a pain in the rear. I went down to makita shop and they wanted me to pay something to the effect 70 dollars refurbishe it. Worst company to stand behind there product. Milwaukee is probably the best for this DeWalt second. NOTE I SPENT ALOT OF MONEY ON MAKITA BEFORE I MADE THIS SWITCH. ALL TOGETHER $4000 PLUS WITH THE SEVEN YEARS I WAS USEING THERE PRODUCT. OVER THE YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING LESS AND LESS RELIABLE. SO LONG MAKITA HELLO DEWALT.
