As others have stated, the 5” is kind of small. I needed a small pliers/wrench set for work that I could carry in the pocket. The 5” is perfect for that. The 7 1/4 would work too, but the 5” is about perfect for pocket carry, so you have something that will take care of some smaller bolts/nuts without having to search tool boxes. The 7 1/4 is great for larger jobs.The 5” is small, but opens to a generous 7/8” or 23mm. The 7 1/4 opens quite a bit more at 1 1/2” or 40mm.The 7 1/4 has the scale for metric and inch printed on either side. The 5” doesn’t have a scale on it. Both seem to be very high quality. They were a bit expensive, but I feel they are quality tools and worth the money.

Great combination of channel locks with precision control over the jaw opening along with parallel jaws without aggressive teeth which could damage softer materials like aluminum or plastic components. Two sizes help to deal with multiple ranges of sizes of fasteners or adapters, great quality as usual from Knipex.

These are fantastic. I use them for weaving chain mail jewelry and they are both comfortable to use and an excellent tool for that work. I could not be happier with the purchase.

Both pair of pliers are of very high quality, typical of Knipex tools. Ergonomic and useful, both pair are handy within their given size ranges. I like that Knipex started making these pliers with flat parallel jaws, my older Cobra pliers have really sharp teeth that easily damage smooth finishes. After using these pliers a few times, you will find yourself reaching for these first before trying the old style adjustable wrench.As others have mentioned, the smaller 5" pair of pliers might be too small for some expectations, but they still prove to be very useful where you only need to turn something a few times or in tight spaces where it's just too cumbersome to use a larger wrench. The jaw opening is generous, larger than you'd expect. The profile of the jaws is thin also, a benefit some might overlook, proving useful in certain circumstances. They fit into the pocket much easier than the larger pair. There are no size graduation markings like the larger pair have. I have included a few pictures of me holding these in my average sized hand to show you how the size so you can decide for yourself if these are what you are looking for.The larger 7" pair are the more typical standard/expected size of pliers. There are size graduation markings on both sides, one side in metric and the other side in inch. If you were to buy one pair of pliers from Knipex to start your collection, this would be the size I recommend you start with.I have noticed within the Cobra line that Knipex will sometimes make changes or improvements to their pliers without changing the part number. They appear to do this in their Pliers Wrench line also. I do not like that they use the same part number when doing this, but functionally, there is not much change in the pliers themselves.

German engineering at its best. Highly versatile tool in top quality. Costly, yes, but that's forgotten once you have them. The small ones go in my motorbike bag, the bigger ones go in my toolbox. These pliers replace a complete spanner and pliers set plus more. Love them, worth every cent
Great pliers…but tiny!
I've had my eye on Knipen wrench pliers for a while. The smooth. parallel jaws mean they're both non-marring and can be used like a wrench as the name suggests.I was excited when I saw these on sale so added to cart and bought them. Imagine my surprise when they arrive and they're tiny! Now, this is in the product description so entirely my fault, but just be careful - there are the 5" and 7" varieties, not the 10" and 12".Other than the diminutive size (the 5" are so cute!) these are extremely well made tools - forged, matte finish (peened?) with very little slop and jaws that meet squarely. The jaws adjust and lock positivity with a spring-loaded press-button in ~1/16" increments. And unlike slip locks they can't pop out under load. The 5" adjust from 0-13/16" and the 7" have a range from 0-11/2" (0-40mm). On the larger pliers the measurement were laser-etched on the side for easier adjustment.As mentioned, the jaws remain parallel so the flats can engage with nuts and pipe fittings without ruining/rounding off corners. The 5" jaws are quite narrow (~1/8") so obviously not for massive torque; the 7" pair is 1/4" wide so can fit into smaller areas but still able to hold some grunt.I decided to keep them and will probably augment the set with a larger pair. I'm sure these will find a use and replace the crappy slip-locks I used previously.

Las compre como alternativa de uso de las llaves crescent que se aflojan o sueltan del ajuste con facilidad.Estas herramientnas tienen un ajuste controlado por un boton que se presiona y se desliza a la apertura deseada. El mecanismo de este boton es muy buena idea y la solidez del ajuste es increible, no se mueven y puedes abrir y cerrar como pinzas, pero con el cabezal de una crescent.El material es de muy buena calidad y fisicamente al tacto se sienten rudas y duraderas.El boton de ajuste es lo unico que veo problematico en sentido que no siempre desengancha o engancha con facilidad, a veces es necesario presionarlo con mas fuerza y en todas las ocasiones es necesario mover la herramienta ligeramente para que el seguro se "enganche" pero eso es mucho menos tardado que estar ajustando una crescent, asi que vale la pena el cambio aunque tenga este detalle.
