I bought this to make fake-chocolate treats for my neighbor's dog (in case you don't know, real chocolate is poison for pups). So I got a recipe online to which this product was perfectly adapted, and the dog went bananas. Lpooks as if I'll be making this regularly from now on.

Bought this for daughter who can't have caffeine and missed a certain chocolate dessert. She LOVED it. Only thing is make sure that if you.purchase anything else at the same time to get this shipped separately. I bought 2 small things in boxes and Bolo shipped it all together in a big box and one of the boxes made a slit in the bag and I lost some of the powder. Powder is great and the loss was not due to this seller.

I've used carob powder in place of cocoa or chocolate for many years but this was my first experience with Olive Nation brand. It was a reasonable price and the fact that it was described as "dark brown" convinced me to try it. Some brands are listed as medium or light roast, and others don't specify.I don't agree with the listing description that carob has a "earthy caramel-like flavor"; it certainly doesn't taste at all like caramel to me. If you've never tried carob, it is very close to chocolate in flavor. I always add a bit of coffee substitute (such as Roma or Caffree) OR decaf instant coffee granules which enhances the chocolate flavor. Adding 1/2 t. to 1 t. will do the trick.This carob powder did not disappoint. I used it in a "chocolate" sheet cake recipe, and my chocolate-loving husband said it was better than chocolate!I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this carob powder again.
