I bought this as a present for a friend. The one I previously had was ceramic and had a lip around the inside of the bin. When I tried to empty it the food would constantly get caught on that rim. I would use a bag, but it would still get caught on the rim, trying to pull it out. I search for a kitchen bin without the rim, and found this one and have loved it. The double filters on the cover, keep odors out, inside the bucket still has odors and the compost slides out very easily when dumping it. If I use a bag it slides out very easily but I don’t use the bag with this. It’s just as easy to dump it clean it. It comes with replacement filter but I haven’t used it yet. I just wash and rinse the filter. Wait until it dries put it back in the cover and so far no odors in kitchen. It is very sturdy worth the money I pd, Top is easy to open, just lift. It holds a lot and comes with the filters in place ready to use from the box. I would recommend getting this

I have had this bin for a while and decided it was time to write a review. At first, I was disappointed that it was so small but as time has gone on, I find that I really like the size. I came to the conclusion that if I let it sit for too long it smelled pretty bad, and the smaller size makes me dump it in the compost bin more often. I also found that you absolutely need to wash the filters and the bin after you have emptied it because the filters hold the smell and will continue to smell after you have emptied the bin. The container is well made and will hold up for a long time. I also bought the green bags to go with the bin, but if you are dumping it every day or so, they really aren't needed.

I didn’t want a big compost bin and keep food scraps too long on the countertop, but also I didn’t want something too small so that I had to make too many trips to the outdoor compost bin.This was a good size for our household (We are a family of three including a teenage son and I cook a lot.) I also checked this can fit in a fridge if I want in the middle of summer.I also like the material. Stainless steel is easy to keep it clean. I hope it’s durable, which I have to see over time.

Perfect countertop compost container! I love the size - just right for a week of kitchen scraps - I also love the shape - the compostable liner I use lifts out so easily. I did use adhesive felt on the bottom so the metal doesn’t scratch my white countertop but it was an easy fix. I do have a concern for when the filter in the lid needs to be changed… I’m not sure how to get the filter out - the lid doesn’t seem to open??? I’d love the seller to respond to this question…

I've used one of these for years, but not in the usual fashion and I thought I'd share. If you have cats, keep one of these by their litter box - they truly keep litter stink at a minimum, especially if you have an apartment and have nowhere to hide that potty box!

I never thought I'd be this enthusiastic about a compost bin, but here we are. This little wonder has completely changed the way I handle kitchen waste. It’s compact enough to sit neatly on my counter without being an eyesore, and the charcoal filter actually works — no smells, even after a week of banana peels and coffee grounds.The lid fits snugly, and the handle makes it easy to carry out to the outdoor compost pile. Cleaning it is simple too; I just rinse it with a little dish soap and it’s good as new. I also appreciate the sturdy construction — it doesn't feel flimsy like some others I looked at.If you're on the fence about composting or just want to upgrade from that sad old bowl you’ve been using, this bin is 100% worth it. Who knew rotting food could bring so much joy?

The carbon filter does a good job of limiting odor and this can hold liquids without leaking. No risk of breaking if dropped like ceramic containers. Food can stick to the sides when emptying and is hard to rinse off, but soaking in bleach every once in a while easily cleans the container. No rust even when used with acidic waste like coffee grinds. One negative is that the colored coating can scratch off if it hits against hard objects like pots and pans in the sink.

It is very solid and well engineered with a quality finish - better than expected and as good as if not better I hoped for which doesn't happen very often!! It looks great on the counter top. It is much higher quality than some bins I have seen. The sides are silid, and not flimsy, it is well balanced, not top heavy, and it has a brushed effect on the main bin section which looks great.The lid fits really well. I twist the top of the compost bags and knot at the side of the rim to stop them slipping down as there isn't a hoop or other fixing, but I think this is perfectly fine. NIce and simple with no parts to lose or break. A big elastic band could be another option of you find it awkward to tie knots. Bins with holes in the lid like this are so much better than ones with solid tops as moisture does not build up inside, so there are no nasty drips when you lift the lid up. Yay! And the charcoal filter is very effective at stopping smells from onions etc. I am not sure if I will go to the expense of buying more when the one supplied and the spare run out, but probably will get a couple for the the height of summer.And for me, the BEST PART is having no plastic inner bucket or paint on the outside - just pure metal, keeping additives and pollution to a minimum (I hope). Plus, for me, the inner buckets always seem to get in the way. I would prefer UK made bin, but this seems to be impossible.If it were 10% bigger it would be completely perfect but the size is actually fine. It does say "Utopia Kitchen" on the lid in small-ish letters, which I think could be moved to the side, but on the other hand if I had made something as nice as this, I would want the logo to be seen as well!I have been looking for a bin like this for a long time and am really happy with it. I hope this lasts as long as it looks like it should! Hurrah!!

Es de acero inoxidable, duradero y fácil d limpiar. Hasta la fecha utilizaba un cubo de plástico de compostaje. El cambio ha sido muy bueno, aunque este es más pequeño y tengo que vaciarlo más a menudo.Para limpiarlo es mucho mejor.Tiro muchas cáscaras y restos de verduras y hortalizas. Tengo compostadores en el jardín de casa.Este recipiente lo tengo en la cocina, y la verdad es que es muy elegante.La única pega, el tamaño para mi, me gustaría más grande. Pero para un piso está bien.

Ce seau a l'avantage d'être plutôt joli par rapport à d'autres, il s'intègre facilement dans une cuisine. Le couvercle doté d'un filtre anti-odeur a l'air efficace ; quand le seau est fermé aucun odeur s'en échappe. Je n'ai aucun problème à le nettoyer. Le seau correspond parfaitement à nos attentes.
Started to smell after a couple of weeks
Looks good. But after a couple of weeks it started to smell. Seems like the filters do more harm then good by soaking in the smell.
