5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent entry-level spiralizer

    S.F. · May 5, 2024

I was inspired to get a spiralizer, and specifically this spiralizer, by Martha Rose Shulman's book "Spiralize this!". Inspired by that book, I got this spiralizer and also a Mueller Pro 4-blade crank spiralizer. With the Mueller, you turn a crank handle. With the Oxo you hold the veg in you hands and twist and push it into the spiralizer. The Oxo works like a Veg-ghetti (if you've ever tried one of those), but it does a better job, is easier to use, and is MUCH easier to clean.Compared to a crank spiralizer, the Oxo is a bit slow and tiring, but it works great for some vegs (especially softer vegs of odd shapes or sizes) where a crank spiralizer like the Mueller just won't work. So if you're into spiralizing things, it is good to have both types of spiralizer in your kitchen tool-kit.For an entry-level spiralizer (with the Mueller being the next step up), I give it high marks. It is inexpensive, compact, sturdy, and it is quick and easy to clean. And if you ever get a crank spiralizer, you will still want to keep it. It will still be the best tool for the job in some cases.

Works well, a bit of a workout, a pain to clean. Get some toothpicks while you are ordering, because little zucchini bits get stuck in the blade and tiny teeth. Nothing else seems to get them out. Otherwise, I like it and have been using it daily since it arrived

4.0 out of 5 stars It's OK... for my first spiralizer

    s. · December 13, 2019

This is my first spiralizer, and so far I've just spiralized some zucchini and chayote. If the veggies are the right shape and texture, works great!Pros: small, inexpensive, fairly easy to use and clean.Cons: takes a little bit of hand effort (shouldn't be a problem for most people), especially carrots (which are pretty hard to make work) but my biggest complaint is that veggies need to be just the right size to work... Really skinny zucchinis don't work, as they need to be big enough to spin in a circle around the cutting surface. Too big and it won't fit - but at least you can cut it into long chunks to fit and it will still work. But veggies that are too small just won't work at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the spiralizer you'll actually use - it's "just right"

    J.W. · June 3, 2017

For ease of use, storage size, and not having to deal with a jigsaw puzzle of parts, this is the spiralizer you'll reach for and actually use. I started spiralizing veggies with one of those double-coned pencil sharpener-style gadgets a few years ago, but it was very limited and it broke a lot of my veggies without even spiralizing them. I then moved up to a fancy crank-style spiralizer with lots of parts and a catch basin, etc. It does a good job, but it's as much fun to get out of the cabinet as my food processer. I avoid it. This OXO, however, is just right. It makes me feel like Goldilocks, lol. I've used it with carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, and beets (wear food service gloves to avoid beet-stained hands) to make gorgeous and delicious veggie noodles. It's easy to use for large or small batches, and it cleans up quickly. I've been using the OXO single blade spiralizer for a year now, and the only downside is that it only makes one size of noodle. Just today, I thought "wouldn't it be great if it had interchangeable blades so I could make different cuts without greatly increasing the size or hassle-factor of the OXO." I looked on Bolo and - wow - was very pleased to see my wish had been granted. (If only it were always so easy, huh?) I'm ordering a three-blade model today! One last thing: the colorful blades, in addition to color-coding the blade type, make the OXO even more cheerful and fun to use - and they don't show stains the way the white plastic spiralizers do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy when combined with a quart Ball or Mason jar (not a wide mouth)

    C. · November 2, 2024

I purchased the OXO over other more expensive and larger type spiralizers because I wanted to "try" making zoodles (zucchini noodles) and did not want to spend a lot of money. I have a boneyard of unused special kitchen gadgets already. I used a quart canning jar (not the wide mouth size) to catch the noodles, and it was an excellent fit. This spiralizer requires the user to twist either the squash or in my case I found it easier to twist the canning jar. It is not difficult but probably takes a bit more time than a crank or electric model. It took me less than 5 minutes to spiralize two medium size zucchini. I would not recommend this tool for the larger end of season zucchinis. I think for a single person or a couple that does not eat zoodles every day, it is a perfect cost effective and space saving tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for small jobs and softish vegetables

    B.Z. · August 2, 2024

I’m usually cooking just for me, and for a single zucchini or other small, soft, cylindrical vegetable, this works fine. In fact, better than hauling out my KitchenAid attachment. It’s not so great for larger quantities (fatigue) or for hard vegetables like carrots.I’m a big fan of Oxo products, but this one missed the mark overall. Three stars because it does work in a limited way, is easy to store, and is quick to clean by hand or in the dishwasher.

Prodotto fantastico!!!!
