I have a wood burning stove and I live in the midwest it gets cold in the winter so I was using wood but it just permeates throughout the house so I started buying these they're really great they're easy to work with they last pretty long and they don't stink up the house and keep you warm at the same time go for it

I like that these give off less soot and less sparks than traditional firewood. And I like that they have a pretty accurate burn duration so you can buy the "length of burn" you want. So if we just want a short 1.5 hr fire, we use the correct Duraflame rated for 1.5 hrs. When it's done, there's usually nothing left but some ashes to scoop up. These create a small, controlled fire and that's all we need. If heat or roaring, crackling flames were desired, I'd use traditional logs. I also love believing that these are more eco-friendly, re-using sawdust from other operations that might otherwise have been thrown out. But I haven't done my research yet and don't know if this is true. For all I know these are made from trees cut down just for this purpose, and perhaps not even from sustainable, renewable tree farms. I need to look into it more. If that's the case, I'll edit my review and quit buying the product. I have 60 acres behind the house I can harvest my own firewood from if need be.

These are super convenient for when you want a fire and don't feel like fighting to get wood and lit. Do they last as long as wood, no. Do they give off heat, no. But they do burn well, and they give off light, they actually burn quite evenly.So for the convenience and that comfy feeling of having a fire going these are great, just put the brick in the fireplace, light two small sections on the outside and away it goes.Do not... Do not... Fiddle with it once lit.It's a compressed sawdust which is why it burns so well so if you're trying to move it around or do anything that involves touching it it will break apart and you will have flying flaming debris.

We've used Duraflame for years, mostly the long 4-hour logs, so I was happy to see a "short" version with only 1.5 hours. I think they do stay fairly consistent, but I had some go out a bit earlier then that. I don't think it's too much of a bummer if I only want a short fire anyway, but compared to the price of the 4 hour logs, this is not really a good deal. I think they should be a bit cheaper to compete with the longer burning logs.

It was pretty straightforward. Lay the log in my firepit, light both ends of the paper, and the log stayed lit for 1.5 hours. Obviously, these are small logs and I feel like they are best suited for a small outdoor firepit when you want to spend a short amount of time by the fire. These are too small to heat a home unless you have a lot of wood to go with it. There was considerable smoke - but that doesn't bother me. You cannot cook on these!! If you want to roast marshmallows or fix popcorn you need to buy the kind specifically for cooking over. I use the Envirolog 5lb firelog which is much bigger and stays lit twice as long and is safe for cooking. These Duraflame logs were pretty cheap and suit my needs for a short outdoor fire experience.

This is God's gift for those that want an easy way to get a fire going outside in the fire pit. No longer do you have to worry about messing with kindling and all of that hassle. Just place this in your pit, arrange your logs around it and mostly over it, light each end exactly where the wrapper says to, and viola! You have and instant fire to enjoy with zero hassle. It has been such a game changer. It is almost hard to believe it can really be this easy!

Beautiful flames
These logs ignite quickly and give glowing flames; however, they don’t last as long as I would have liked. I have had logs in the past that would last at least a couple of hours, but these barely last an hour.
