Essie Davis (The Babadook, The Slap) returns as Miss Phryne Fisher, a “lady detective” from Melbourne with a fabulous sense of fun and a flair for solving crimes. In a country reemerging from the shadow of World War I, Phryne takes life in her stride—and murder, too. Detective Inspector Jack Robinson (Nathan Page, The Secret Life of Us) works alongside her, although she often outraces him to the crime scene. Despite Jack’s efforts to keep matters on a professional level, their playful partnership is growing more and more personal. In Series 3, Phryne and Jack’s developing relationship is matched by the on-again, off-again romance of Phryne’s assistant, “Dot” Williams (Ashleigh Cummings, Tomorrow, When the War Began), and Jack’s constable, Hugh Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt, San Andreas). But with the unexpected arrival of her father in Australia, Phryne recalls troubling incidents from her past—and contends with ominous affairs in the present.

This is a wonderful disc, with wonderful actors, beautiful sets, clothes, scenery and wonderful actors to bring the viewer into the life of private detective Miss Phryne Fisher, Inspector Jack Robinson and all the other actors in this great series. Start out with the complete set from Series 1 through Series 3. It will blend into the next chapter of a wonderful character with her assistant Dot and her life with this wonderful woman. Some of the episodes are so feel good, you feel like it's Christmas. Phyrne shows what a wonderful person can do to bring happiness to so many people even the father she argues with, with love and understanding, it does the heart good. All her actions shows what a better person we could be in difficult situations which correspond with her solving mysteries with Inspector Jack Robinson, played by Nathan Page. Their constant bantering back and forth is a joy to behold. Essie Davis, as Phryne is wonderful and wears the roaring twenties clothes to perfection. Aunt Prudence, another wonderful character is a joy to watch, Ashleigh Cummings is lovely as Dot and her romance with the good Constable is a pleasure also. Her suitor is played by Hugo Johnstone-Burt. Phyrne's butler is such a gentleman butler, we all wish we had one in our family. All in all, this set is wonderful and you will love having Miss Fisher in your collection of DVD's. I only wish they would make more episodes as I was sad when the series ended with Series 3. Good job done by everyone and I thank you all for many hours of great viewing this wonderful series. So nice to have met Phryne and all the wonderful people around her.

Another fun season! I'm hooked! I love MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES: SERIES 3 starring Essie Davis (Phryne Fisher) and Nathan Page (Jack Robinson). The rest of the cast are back as well including Ashleigh Cummings (Dot), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Hugh Collins), Richard Bligh (Mr. Butler), Travis McMahon (Burt), Anthony Sharpe (Cec), Miriam Margolyes (Aunt Prudence) and Tammy Macintosh (Dr. Mac) and they all still work well together.If you haven't seen the show MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES is based in part on a character named "Phryne (Fry-Nee) Fisher" who is a flapper and super sleuth, featured in books by Kerry Greenwood (Cocaine Blues: A Phryne Fisher Mystery (Phryne Fisher Mysteries)). The show takes place in Australia, during the '20s and I can't get enough!This season has Inspector Jack Robinson (Page) and Phryne (Davis) getting closer, with Dot (Cummings) and Hugh (Johnstone-Burt) tying the knot. Of course there's murder throughout and we get to go along for the ride.There's also 36:27-minutes of special featurettes, with a "play-all" selection or you can just watch one or two, that talk about the sets, costumes, the story lines and the characters. Also included is a 7-minute character clips (these are the actors in character telling you about the shows, probably commercial teasers in AUS TV), an 8-minute long "Mr. Butler's Drink of the Week" (featuring Richard Bligh in character as Phryne's butler "Mr. Butler" making cocktails), and behind-the-scenes photo gallery.I hope there will be a season 4 for "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" because it's such a fun and likable series. If you like Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 1, any of the Agatha Christie's Marple: The Julia McKenzie Collection series, or MURDOCH MYSTERIES COLLECTION: SEASONS 1-4, then you'll LOVE "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

I've watched all of them and the movie. Loved them all. Terrific cast. Set in the 20"s after WWI. Great costuming.Wish they were still making them.

We have a female protagonist that is about 50 years ahead of her time. She is smart, strong willed, determined and not to be trifled with. Her male counterpart takes a while to figure her out, but not in your typical male chovanist style. He comes to respect her and eventually considers her a worthy colleague. The cases they work are interesting and well scripted. Too bad the series had to stop at three seasons. I would have enjoyed many more episodes were they available.

I love this series. I wish they'd made more than three seasons. They are supposed to be making three movies also. They are based on the books (sold on Bolo) which I plan to check out next. The series is set in the 1920s and I love the clothes, headpieces/hats and music. In addition, it's interesting to see how things were back then with human rights and the different attitudes. The actors chooses for the roles are great and become your friends after awhile. Seasons one and two are free with Prime Membership and season three is available for a reasonable price.

On retrouve toujours Miss Fisher avec autant de plaisir, même s'il y a moins d'épisodes que lors des 2 précédentes saisons.Dommage que cela soit la dernière saison de la série ! Boitier similaire aux saisons précédentes.Pas de doute, cette femme détective au cours des années folles nous fait découvrir un monde différent au travers de ses enquêtes, et surtout, les règles d'une société pas si ancienne, mais tellement éloignée de la notre.Seul bémol (comme dans les saisons précédentes) : pas de bonus sur les coulisses du tournage ou les acteurs.J'espère que les fils prévus seront bien tournés et sortiront aussi en coffret vidéo.

if you are waiting for Phryne and Jack to get it together in the romance department -here's a hint : she chooses her father over jack...yep, she flies into the sunset with her old man and not Jack....soppy ending to the series, jack had more gusto in the first series when he kissed Phryne to distract her from the killer....but I digress .....I've been a fan of the series since the beginning and the period costumes, set design, the writing and the incredible Aussie actors (-not just the main characters), continues to draw me back in, even when, as in this series 3, with only 8 episodes the writers decide to have the self absorbed father take up at least two of the episodes with his never ending troublesome and evasive life -which could have been better served with a more thoughtful offering, ....Rumour has it a film is in the works with Phryne travelling the globe, so perhaps they are setting this up ? I wouldn't hold my breath for either series 4 or a movie...financing isn't in place and is Jack suppose to follow our sassy lady detective like a little puppy? Best Jack stays and marries his secret "friend", daughter of a high ranking Mafia member....great episode (3) ...another thought....don't forget the depression is around the corner historically .....can the writers keep up the life Phryne has become accustomed to.....
