My friend and I are both visually impaired and we live far from each other. We keep in touch by making speaking onto cassette tapes and then passing them back and forth to each other. My friend needed a new cassette recorder, so I purchased this and had it sent to her. She reports that it is working out fairly well. She says the external mic jack does not fit the mic she had around the house, but that the internal mic works ok. She says the playback sound is a little weak, so she needs to turn the volume way up. All that being said, it appears that this cassette recorder will work for us to stay in touch.

Garbage. Ate and destroyed an old tape with voice recordings that will never be recovered. Thankfully I still have more. But this is unacceptable. Why is it so hard to make these that work now? Never had these problems back in the day. It also has a hissing noise the whole time it’s playing. Chose this one bc Coby was a recognized brand. Means nothing, absolute trash.

Great tape recorder and player! The playback speed and sound quality are great! Colby makes great products! Get your old cassette tapes out of the basement or attic and have a listen!

It records audio nicely and with higher volume and there isn't the issue of it eating cassette tapes that other tape recorders have caused. That said, the sound quality and playback is the same warbly effect of many modern tape recorders. The audio in contrast of tape recorders I bought years ago was much more accurate, even if not much clearer. Still, decently priced, can't complain. I'm satisfied with my purchase but with caveats as stated.

My mother has old gospel tapes and needed a tape cassette. The sound quality is good. And it doesn't eat up the tape cassettes. With some of her tapes being over 20 years the speed quality was great. The cassette sound didn't drag or become distorted.It's small and compact and easy to carry. Will buy again.
