I have purchased this same fuel filter kit 5 times and have installed them without fault each time. However, this last time the water/fuel filter MO-867 filter I received this time had a defect. The center stem of this filter was recessed in the filter housing over 1 inch below the surface (see photos). The stem is used to depress the ball/check valve in the fuel line as it is screwed in. With the valve depressed, fuel can flow to the cartridge filter housing at the engine when the low pressure lift pump is energized to prime two filters and fuel lines up to the high pressure pump. No fuel was getting to the cartridge filter housing so I checked that the lift pump was working correctly even though I could hear it. I cracked open the drain that screws into the bottom oh the water/fuel filter and it had plenty of pressure and volume to prime the system. I then unscrewed the water/fuel filter and saw that the center stem was not long enough to depress the ball/check to allow fuel to prime the low pressure side of the fuel system. I compared it to the same MO-867 I had in the truck that worked and it was only 1/2” below the surface. I reinstalled the old filter and could feel the center stem depressing the ball/check valve as I screwed it in. Primmed the system with 4 cycles of the lift pump and the low pressure side of the fuel system was primmed. Truck started just fine. Bolo was great with a shipment of a new filter set. No issure with Bolo. The MO-867 filter is defective on this set too. I double checked that this MO-867 filter is good for 2013-2018 Ram diesel trucks. Be sure to check the stem length and compare to the one you took out that works or you’ll never get fuel to the front of the engine to prime it.
