This is a brilliant fan that is whisper quiet as described. However I would suggest that the higher speed is selected on install as the lower speed would only be any use for a continuous on situation as it does not move enough air otherwise. This fan was a direct replacement for one that had been installed for many years in conjunction with a bathroom light switch & the C4S made it sound like an old tractor by comparison. Installation was very simple with just a Neutral & a Positive connection. It was not even necessary to drill new fixing holes in the wall due to a very neat arrangement of two small spikes that grip the internal vent hole by tightening two small screws after inserting the body of the fan into the vent hole. I can highly recommend the C4S as it sets the standard by which all those nasty cheaper fans should be judged.Delivery was by return so what more can you ask!
Quiet and efficient
I bought this to replace an older extractor that was (a) very noisy, and (b) didn't have a separate cord switch, so it was always on when the bathroom light was on. I'm very happy with this product as it's very quiet in operation, it was very easy to install using the existing wiring, and it clears the steam from the bathroom very efficiently. The product has two settings which you choose between before installation, although you could change the setting again post-install without too much hassle. I picked the faster setting to extract more volume of air and it really does work well.
petit cliquetis
Montage facile mais pas très solide : on aurais préféré 4 vis à chaque coin, plutôt que 2 petites pattes qui n'ont pas bcp d'emprise dans mon faux plafond. Il a l'air de tenir quand même.Concernant le bruit : je n'ai pas vu de variateur de vitesse; et il y a un petit cliquetis dans les pales, j'ignore où cela touche les bords je ne vois pas. Ca ira bien avec la tirette pour aérer de temps en temps.
Excellent extractor
This extractor fan is really quiet. My son starts work earlier than the rest of the household and the old shower extractor fan used to wake us up in the room above the bathroom. Not any more! The difference is truly amazing and now the water falling from the shower makes more noise than the fan. The extraction rate is also excellent. We have it set on the higher speed setting and, after 4 people have taken showers, the room is still almost clear of steam so we don't need to keep it running for too long after we're all done. Given that the room is pretty much the coldest room in the house, that is quite impressive.It was a fairly simple job to fit this extractor in place of the old one. The only thing that was a bit of a pain is that, because the body of this Xpelair C4S is round, you don't have any obvious markings to ensure that the outer cover will be exactly parallel with the wall or ceiling. There are slotted screw holes in the base, but you still have to complete the installation before you can tell whether it's at the right angle.
Quiet and effective but tricky to set up
Now that the unit is set up, the fan power and low noise level is great. Installing it wasn't easy, as the pull cord switch wouldn't click on and off until my electrician managed to adjust it after many attempts. The mechanics aren't very robust.
