5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, sturdy and comfortable.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I use this for semi precious gemstone mining specifically chalcedony. There is a lot of digging and prying and scratching involved this pick is ideal for that. incredibly sturdy and exactly the right size to also use in small tunnels. Considering the gemstones this pick has helped me dig out and the quality of the tool I think the price is good. Since i can work with it all day without tiring i consider it to be very light and the grip fits my hand very well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome hammer!
This thing is freaking awesome! My new favorite hammer! Don’t know how I got along as a geologist without this hammer! Loving the spike on it, loving the built-in magnets!
5.0 out of 5 stars USA made quality
Fast delivery and nice product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
Lost my old estwing rock hammer and found this while searching for a new one. There’s only one thing to know…. If you by any estwing anything it’s gonna last forever. I have my 96 year old father’s estwing claw framing hammer from the ‘40s. If it’s not stolen or you lose it you’ll have it forever.
5.0 out of 5 stars One of my better tools.
Well balanced. Has been put to the hard rock smash n pick lots of times and the point and chisel ends are holding up perfectlyThe magnet is still in place and works well.Rubberized handle is awesome and helps reduce shock to my hand and wrist.
5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the line
Rugged and lightweight. Perfect for a day of rock hunting when you need something more than a hand pick.
5.0 out of 5 stars This pick is light by mighty

Genau das Geologeninstrument das mir noch fehlte
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Wertige Hacke für schweren steinigen Boden mit der Zusatzfunktion des Magnet-Tests aufgrund der angebrachten drei Magnete an Kopf der Hacke.
Durable and versatile
I am not surprised at all that Estwing makes a good rock pick. I have used it now on at least 5 separate outings where I went mineral collecting (including a one week long trip exploring old silver mines). It makes short works of packed dirt and old mines dump rock pile. I can already tell that this is a durable and versatile tool that will last me a very long time.My only disappointment is that the eagle logo on the tool is a sticker and not an engraving. Such a cool logo but the second you put the tool to good use the sticker wears off.
Seems to be in poor condition on arrival, but works well
The pick already has chips out of the paint in a few places, and the point seems to be blunted to the side. I’m not sure if it was damaged during shipping or what, but the handle seems to have been made in a hurry as well. It looks like it’s unfinished, possessing a weird fuzz-like coating where it should have been cleaned after it was shaped. Not sure if I’m comfortable keeping it at this point, so I don’t have much to say regarding functionality, except that the description says the pick is for breaking rocks, which would be difficult with a pointed tip, this tool seems better suited for digging and prying. The magnets all seem to be present and functional. Regardless, the price is far too high considering the poor condition.Update after multiple uses: All that being said, the pick works great for digging through rocky soil and prying. Upped to a 3 star review because of the performance.
