5.0 out of 5 stars Great, smooth taste with little to no acidity or BS notes or flavors. Just excellent coffee.

I have been trying to buy as organic as possible nowadays and just happened across this one day while searching on Bolo and man, I was definitely not disappointed with this. It is very smooth with pretty much no acidity to it at all. It has a great earthy flavor which is exactly what I like. I am not a fan of any kind of fruity or other flavors that come through in my coffee and this stuff is amazing. If you like a good, dark roast without any BS flavorings then this is the stuff to get. I will definitely be getting more of this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tastes Great
Love this coffee. It is very reasonably priced for organic coffee. I like my coffee strong and this one is strong and has a great taste
5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift
The person I gifted it to really liked it and said it was delicious!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee. Ground instead of whole break shipped though.
Very good coffee. Although it had shown up as ground and not whole bean as the listing shows.
5.0 out of 5 stars Organic, Strong, never bitter
This is a wonderful, strong and not bitter Organic coffee. An absolute go to for those days where you need something more to get the day in gear
5.0 out of 5 stars I love Kicking Horse Coffee's Kick Ass Dark Roast!
What can I say the rich, bold flavor is perfectly balanced with a smooth finish with no bitterness at all. It's a great price for such high-quality, organic coffee, and I feel good knowing it's Fairtrade certified. Definitely my go to morning brew to help me kick the day's ass.
3.0 out of 5 stars UPDATED: Kick Ass, Smart Ass Roasts, Three Sisters, & Decaf
In the last couple of weeks, I have purchased 3 different Kicking Horse roasts to try. My favorite 2 lb bag of coffee has dramatically increased in price so I am on the hunt for a more reasonably priced brew. The appeal with Kicking Horse is that you get a little bit more (2.2 lbs) at only like $2-3 more than what I was spending on my previously favorite brew that jumped $13 in price for less coffee. My first try was Smart Ass...not gonna lie....it was the name that appealed to me and it was a medium roast. I purchased in the 10 oz bag which is not cost effective in the long run, but for a trial, was fine. I really wanted to like it because the name so fits my personality but I just couldn't. I am not a fan of the "fruity sweet" roasts and that's what this came across as to me. The other downside was that it had a bitterness to it which also told me the grind was not very fresh, but even without that, I still wouldn't have liked the flavor. Unfortunately, it got dumped into the trash.Next on the list was Kick Ass, a dark roast. I used to drink dark roasts all the time and never had a problem but once I had found my previous favorite, which was a medium, and was drinking it regularly, I started having a hard time with going back to the dark. The overall flavor profile fits my palette much nicer, but the "burnt" earthiness that comes with a lot of dark roasts was just too apparent to me on its own. Unlike the Smart Ass though, this one did not get dumped as I found that if I brew it with a bit of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, or cardamom, that burnt flavor dissipates and rounds it out nicely. Since that is something I typically add to my brew anyway, I would consider keeping this one in mind as a back up roast.I am hoping my third bag, Three Sisters, a medium roast which has a flavor profile similar to the Kick Ass (and my other favorite medium roasts), will be the end of my tasting journey and I will have a new regular which can be purchased in the larger, more cost-effective bags and in whole bean. The only reason I have not tried it yet is because I don't want to waste the Kick Ass. I will probably update my review once I do try it though.1/29/21 UPDATE - I am officially disappointed in Kicking Horse coffee. At this point the only one I do like is their decaf which is not bitter like most other decafs. It was why I gave their other caffeinated options a try during my hunt for a new regular brew. I have determined that if Kick Ass were a medium roast instead of dark, it would be my new favorite. I don't know if this bag of Three Sisters was stale but it seemed to have a sweet taste (like the Smart Ass) that I don't care for followed by a bitter taste which is usually due to stale beans. I tossed the first cup and tried a second cup with cinnamon added to it (same as I did with the Kick Ass that evened it out) and I could still taste that sweet bitter like I did with the Smart Ass. Needless to say, the hunt continues.

This is Now today. And this previously submitted comment was frm past purchase, diff blend, 3Sisters I think. Ok, Kick Ass promises a sweet, smokey, audacious experience. Alright, we'll quickly discover this claim, printed in 2languages! Yeah yeah..we knew Canada's love affair w/the French, no. That we can deduce this coffee was roasted in the French side. Mountain region, perhaps. But as certain things happen here&there, won't be surprised that the coffee production could have been nowhere near there. Eh, BC Canada IS HUGE,no. [A fine Horse coffee, indeed. I wanted a little variation with my coffee enjoyment. KHC Dark Roast came up perfect, milder but got that vaunted kick the Canadians are bragging about. Smooth flavour, attractive aroma. A real nice light drink in that morning before a hearty b/fast.] This was my first mention of product. Iam going back for more of this brand's other blends, at least 1more I want to try. Those who have yet to discover Kicking Horse, it's coffees and blends, are in for a real treat. Big name brands are world -reknown companies. Millions are steadily allocated and used for ad campaigns/store on every corner of cities. Timbuktu even, I think!
