Works perfectly in my 5th gen 4runner to tow my 3000lb travel trailer. I mounted the unit using the plastic slide out housing but I used velcro to attach the housing to the lower left dash panel (see pictures)- this way I could see the display and reach the controls. 1st time I've used any trailer brake control, but only took about 3 minutes of driving on a service road to get the feel for where the control needed to be set for optimum braking. It took about 15 minutes to install- I used the factory "Tekonsha 304100 Trailer Brake Controller Custom Harness, Vehicle & Brake Control Ends Compatible with 2014-2023 Toyota 4Runner" which connected to the brake control connector hiding behind the lower left fuse panel, right above the driver kick panel (picures). I put the white ground wire lug under the 10mm bolt for the lower fuse mounting bracket (blue part in the picture)- there's bare metal behind the blue part, so the lug gets a ground ground.

2001 f250 v10. Buy the plug and play adapter (purchased separately) made installation a breeze. Made huge improvement pulling my trailer. Has all kinds of setting to adjust trailer brakes making it brake smooth like you're just driving a truck without 8k lbs behind you.This thing is awesome!

Definitely needed for pulling my camper. It was easy to install and set up. Just have to do a couple test pulls to get the perfect setting for what you are pulling

This replaced the same unit that was 17 years old. Works fine. However, one of the plastic tabs that secures the plastic holder immediately broke off. I used the old one from the previous unit. Must have had better plastic years ago.
