XL Recordings is a collaborative endeavour, and many people have contributed to its evolution. In the song "Out Of Space," Liam Howlett of The Prodigy provided a blueprint when he sampled Kool Keith of Ultramagnetic MC's rapping these words: "Pay Close Attention." And whilst XL has never had any outside ownership, Gil Scott-Heron advised me not to even consider XL "independent"; because everything is connected. This compilation is an attempt to illustrate some of these connections.

It's probably worth the asking price for the "Gabriel" track alone. Highly recommended.

The album is great, but I encountered some errors on track 15 of the first disc when doing a secure test and copy. However, this was only present on my internal Asus DVD drive, and it read fine on the Optiarc drive in my laptop. Be wary when purchasing the CD if you don't have a backup player.
