The clarity, sharpness, and precision are unmatched. However, it’s unfortunate that Zeiss hasn’t brought image stabilization to its more affordable product lines, as I often find myself needing a tripod for steadier views in many situations.

Very good binoculars which give fantastic views of the night sky, the super wide field of view is very well corrected, spherical aberration and astigmatism are minimal, the moon appears very sharp with no stray light even when placed just outside the field of view, stray light performance is in fact one of the very best I've tested. Light transmission allows to see deep sky objects hard to find with normal binoculars.Eye placement and fine tuning are critical to get the best out of this instrument, the tripod adpator is of high quality, very stable and user-friendly.I only give it 4 stars because chromatic aberration should be better corrected for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars extreme chromatic arberration - not good for astronomical viewing
I recently purchased the Zeiss conquest hd 15x56 binoculars 12.2014. Zeiss lists their conquest hd 15x56 as appropriate for astronomical viewing but I seriously doubt that anyone from Carl Zeiss has ever tried to use these binoculars for night viewing.The Zeiss conquest hd 15x56 binoculars suffer from extreme chromatic & spherical aberration (translation: bright green halos around any bright object in the night sky). The halo is so bright one cannot observe the moon as the image is washed out by the bright green circle. This surprised me considering how much these binoculars cost.The other problem is the wimpy tripod adapter Zeiss provides for attachment of the 15x56 binoculars; the adapter connection is not anywhere near rigid enough to provide vibration free viewing. The adapter shaft has only two (2) screw threads and works itself loose after a few rounds of lateral or vertical movement and if you are not paying attention, the adapter can work itself loose allowing the binoculars to fall off of your tripod.I own a pair of Nikon Monarch 8.6x56 binoculars that do not have any chromatic aberration problems and cost about 1/4 of the price I had to pay for the Zeiss 15x56.I do not consider the Zeiss Conquest HD 15x56 binoculars to be a good value and would not recommend these binoculars to anyone who desires minimal chromatic aberration and vibration free viewing.
