Royal Purple HMX SAE 10W-30 High-Mileage Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 quart is specifically designed to minimize wear and restore lost performance in engines with more than 75,000 miles. Formulated with robust zinc/phosphorus anti-wear compounds combined with Royal Purple's proprietary additive technology Synerlec, HMX is chemically enhanced to revitalize hardened seals, reducing oil consumption common in high-mileage engines. In addition, HMX is fortified with stout detergents to remove engine build-up and deposits, maintain cleanliness and promote engine longevity. The advanced Synerlec technology in HMX provides exceptional film strength, reducing friction and metal to metal contact for peak engine performance. It also provides outstanding oxidation resistance to safely extend oil drain intervals, and an ionic attraction to metal surfaces, providing protection and minimizing wear at start-up. Engineering formulations is a balancing act as engine oil has several key functions to perform. Higher mileage engines require a shift in this balance in certain regards as compared to new engines, such as anti-wear, detergency and preserving and restoring seal elasticity. Recommended for gasoline passenger car and light-truck engines beyond 75,000 miles, HMX can safely extend oil drain intervals up to 15,000 miles or 12 months in unmodified, mechanically-sound engines with proper filtration. When using HMX, Royal Purple recommends first performing two short clean-up drain intervals of 3,000 miles each with HMX to thoroughly clean the engine before extending drain intervals. Royal Purple HMX is suitable for use in engines specifying API service SJ, SL, SM and SN.

First off, I'll admit I've become a royal purple fan boy of late. I always knew RP made great stuff, but I didn't want to spend the extra $. After a complete RP fluid changeover in my truck, I am 100% satisfied with every RP fluid I've used. I run the hmx in my motor, max atf in my transmission and transfer case, as well as their gear oil in both front and rear differentials. This hmx high mileage oil is the best high mileage oil out there, by FAR. I've tried just about every high mileage oil available and this hmx stuff goes far beyond what the others did. My Dodge Dakota has the 4.7L V8 and has over 160k miles, so I wanted to do everything I could to keep it running as long as possible. On cold start ups, my truck has a few sticky/lazy lifters that make a bit of noise for a few seconds. So after I switched to the RP HMX, the sound is GONE. I couldn't be happier. The motor sounds much, much better and runs nice and smooth. I can't comment on longetivity, as I've only had it in my truck for a couple hundred miles. However, if it's anything like RP's gear oil and transmission fluid, then it will perform better than any other oil I could put in my truck. If you're on the fence about spending the extra $ on this premium high mileage oil, just do it. Plus you can extend your oil change intervals after just 2 short 3,000 mile oil changes!

I use this particular oil in my Honda EU7000is inverter generator. I started with regular royal purple at 100 hrs. At 1000hrs I switched to the high mileage version. I recently completed the 2000 hour service and the engine internals look brand new. Bearing wear was non existent and zero evidence of blow by. After measuring clearances I literally put the engine back together as-is. Keep in mind Honda does not use oil filters on these smaller engines. I change the oil every 200 hours and honestly it looks the same coming out as it does going in. I could probably go 400-500 hrs on a change but at about a quart per oil change it’s cheap insurance to just do it more frequently. I use royal purple products in my other small engines and vehicles and it has always performed excellently.

I used this product in my 94 Toyota with a 3VZE engine, an engine not known for gas mileage or even being a silent running engine. I religiously change my oil every 3500 miles at maximum as highway driving is not the friendliest to these vehicles with their gearing. This oil went in a beautiful dark purple, and came out a modest dark caramel. I guess the purple breaks down as it ages. The oil could have had a longer life and it almost seemed like I was changing it prematurely. When I put this oil in, after 10 miles the engine would idle silently to where you could only hear the injectors firing. When driving the vehicle delivered an extra 3mpg on this oil compared to Mobil 1. I ended up having to go back to Mobil this oil change because timing didn't line up to get this, and none of my local auto stores even carry the HMX (though they should) just the regular. I highly recommend this to anyone looking at trying a new oil. Best oil I've ever used. Period.

I was previously using RP 5W-30 HPS w/ Purolator Synthetic filter w/ 1qt of oil burnoff. After switching to this w/ the RP filter at 112K miles on a 98' Toy Corolla 4-spd. The noise disappeared & my car runs much smoother & quieter.I've tried 5W-30 API RP & Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic, this doesn't compare. Valvoline & RP API will burn-off. & Valvoline was very viscous compared to RP.(Update)I've noticed less oil burn-off than HPS, no more than a quart so far for my long oil drain intervals. I was getting an oil change every 6 months or twice a year (winter & summer) w/ HPS, & i commute to work. I expect my oil change intervals to be the same. But its also because i should've been using 10W-30 instead of 5W-30 for this heat & because my car is high mileage. My car's manual says i can either use 5W-30 or 10W-30. Don't completely trust what's said on the oil cap; instead trust what the owner's manual says. If u want your engine to last a long time, always use the thicker oil whenever possible & forget about the temporary fuel economy benefits of the thinner "recommended" oil.The same goes with tire inflation, don't overinflate more than 1-2psi extra if u hwy drive; if u city/mix drive then don't add an extra 1psi.It isn't available in any store in my high-desert town in AZ.I prefer the 5-qt. single jug instead of the 6qt. pack because i still have 2 qt.'s of 5W-30 HPS left that i don't wanna use & my car's motor only uses 3.9qts. And it's cheaper in the long run, unless u burn a lotta oil.

Outstanding product. Improved overall performance, increased oil pressure, and cleaned the entire oil system well. Required oil change earlier with the first change due to the detergents cleaning the build up throughout the system. The oil was extremely dirty after the first change. Second oil change and the oil remains much cleaner. Highly recommend. Be sure to add the RP Oil Filter as well. Very well built filter.

Hear good things about royal purple. I did an oil change on my father's 170k mile chrysler 300 using the royal purple. Seems OK. Now nice need one for transmission. Lol. Hate cars...
