They have proven to be reliable over the years and for that I am grateful. They are convenient to have when I have to eat during my commute or in-between meetings at work, or when I am traveling. They also don't melt (unlike some others that have a coating on the outside) so you can throw them in your bag or the suitcase without worrying about the temperature. I have tried protein bars from many other brands and companies. The quest bar has the best macros if you are optimizing for protein with minimal carbs, and the ingredients are clean. I have tried most of their flavors and the double chocolate chunk is my favorite. If you are very sensitive to artificial sweeteners or any of the ingredients, your palate might not like these, so check the ingredients and the nutrition label before you buy, or try a bunch of the flavors because some might taste better than others for you. There is quite a bit of variability in texture and taste across these, which I think is a strength of these bars because that makes them available to a wider range of consumers with different preferences. Also, the price is comparatively better especially given these are the biggest in size compared to most other brands. I am yet to find another protein bar that exceeds all of these criteria.
5.0 out of 5 stars all the essential amino acids, no gelatin, great flavor
Unlike every other protein bar that I've looked at, the protein in Quest's bars is 100% nutritionally complete: it contains all the essential amino acids (those the human body needs but is unable to synthesize). No gelatin ("hydrolyzed animal protein"), which can help unhealthy nails, hair and skin but does nothing for muscles or organs. No legume (pea, bean, soy) protein, which is not nutritionally complete. Protein bars that contain gelatin have less useful protein than the number of grams of protein seems to indicate, especially if gelatin is near the beginning of the ingredients list. Bars that contain legume protein have fewer grams of complete protein than the protein gram number indicates. Legume protein is still more useful to the body than gelatin is. Of the Quest bars that I've tasted, Double Chocolate Chunk and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough are my favorites.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great flavor for a protein bar
Wonderful protein content with great flavor. Doesn't melt quickly, but is easy to eat and has a wonderful chocolate flavor. Quest bars have a large variety flavors to choose from, and can be a meal substitute, if you are pinched for time. I know they are a bit pricey, but feel that they are worth the money. Not sure about the fiber, and I get that from other sources.
4.0 out of 5 stars Protein meal replacement or snack
These are good and a great source of protein. They are somewhat chewy. Very chocolate-y!
5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious
These are so delicious and filling. Great product.. If you are wanting to up your protein and fill full all while taking care of your chocolate craving these are the bars to buy.
1.0 out of 5 stars Worst protein bar
The chocolate one is horrible. However, if you enjoy the taste of raw hot chocolate powder... I don't know what protein powder tastes like, but I bet if you mixed it with hot chocolate mix it would taste very similar to these bars. Which that doesn't sound bad does it, hot chocolate / powdered milk? But it's just not good at all.BTW I loved the chocolate Slim-Fast bars of the 90s (don't know if they're still around), and actually prefer that type of taste to a candy bar. I.e., I'm aware these aren't supposed to taste like candy or even breakfast bars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quest Bar Addiction Chocolate Chunk Only
I have been addicted to chocolate chunk Quest bars for over 10 years. When they arrive too hard, I heat them up for a few seconds in the microwave.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty protein bar
I have tried a few different protein bars and I can tolerate most of them. This one, I love it. It has replaced desserts in many of my meals. It’s tasty, and gives 20 gm protein with no added sugar and low carb. Amazing combination
