Songbook Vol. 1 is the first greatest hits compilation released by British singer-songwriter MIKA. The album was released on November 18, 2013 in Italy, following Mika's appointment as a judge on the Italian version of The X Factor, and his number one single in the country, "Stardust", featuring Chiara. The new version of "Stardust" and "Live Your Life" are exclusive to this release, and do not appear on any of Mika's other albums.After debuting at number four on the Italian Albums Chart, Songbook Vol. 1 peaked at number two in Italy during its second week. The album was later CERTIFIED PLATINUM by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry, denoting sales in excess of 60,000 units in Italy. An avid MIKA fan, I am loving it as well. PS: MIKA has just also enjoyed huge success as a judge on the French version of The Voice. MIKA is a 'global citizen' touring internationally. If you are like me, and never knew who MIKA was, do yourself a favor and buy this CD from the super-talented singer/songwriter, writer/singer of “Grace Kelly” and “Big Girls”.

I have all of the songs on this album but I bought it to get the slower version of "Stardust". It is simply amazing. Also some of the other songs are tweaked so they bring new life to the songs we all know. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys original beautiful music that brings joy. And if you don't know any of Mika's music, it is a good place to start.

The collection on this CD is alright. There are a few early songs that I feel would have done well on here, however what I find unlikeable is the remix of popular. An entire verse is cut from the song that I feel lessons the songs meaning. Additionally Stardust has a slowed down version that is enjoyable. I do not mind these re-recording, I do wish that they accompanied the originals rather than replacing them.

His music puts me in such good mood!
I don't usually like the more modern music (for me it's anything after 2000), but here and there there might be some surprises to be found in the current music market. And so happens that I stumbled upon Mika's music during a visit to my homeland of Israel by turning on the radio, a song by him called "Grace Kelly" came on, and I was hooked. It was simply different from anything I ever heard. So fresh, happy, full of energy. I went on Youtube to check the rest of his music, and I could help myself from humming some other songs I heard on there, like "We Are Golden", "Big Girls" or "Relax (Take It Easy).Mika's voice is unique and stands out, for me, in a sea of recent mediocracy. I live for three years now in Canada, and over there unfortunately not a lot of people heard about Mika. It's not a disaster, of-course, since there is the miracle of Internet and being able to order online. I bought his first and second CD during that trip in Israel, and I knew I must get some more (like to fill the gaps when it's possible). This collection was a great choice, it's remastered wonderfully and the booklet is detailed and it has all the lyrics and some nice pictures of Mika throughout his career (so far).I'm not sure why this collection was out only in Italy essentially, it could have been a hit anywhere else! Oh well, at least there's that if someone wants to hear the best of Mika. This is a really good place to start (I already pre-ordered his upcoming fifth album, can't wait to hear it).If you want original, fresh, funny and quite often touching music, this is the artist to go to. Get it and open your ears to a brand new world of fun!
BELLISSIMA RACCOLTA DI SUCCESSI DI MIKA : CD REGISTRATO MOLTO BENE, ALLEGRO, BELLI I TESTI E LE MUSICHE
Bellissima raccolta dei primi e principali successi di Mika. CD registrato molto bene. Ottimi gli arrangiamenti. Il CD scorre via veloce e lo si ascolta senza annoiarsi. Lo stile spazia dalla musica pop, disco ed anche un pó melodica e sinfonica. Se si presta attenzione ai testi delle canzoni, si puó notare come molte di esse contengano storie tratte da scene di vita realmente vissuta da Mika o che comunque fanno parte della sua vita passata e non; lui stesso in diverse interviste racconta aneddoti della sua famiglia o del suo passato che hanno ispirato la creazione di molte sue canzoni nonché testi. In molti brani emerge anche la sua sensibilitá nell'affrontare argomenti talvolta anche delicati. Cantante con doti canore ed estensioni vocali a dir poco eccezionali e dai toni anche in farsetto. É indiscutibilmente un artista, cantante, compositore e show man a 360 gradi. E' senza dubbio un bel CD, allegro che si ascolta piacevolmente. Onestamente non é il mio genere musicale o cantante preferito, ho acquistato questo CD scontato perché non mi dispiaceva avere nella mia raccolta personale di musica 3 o 4 dei suoi brani, ma devo ammettere che ascoltandolo piú volte ho avuto modo di apprezzare, oltre ai brani alcuni dei quali che non conoscevo, anche la bravura ed il lato umano e sensibile del cantante. Il CD é prodotto in EU ed é arrivato perfettamente imballato, sigillato ed integro. La confezione include un piccolo opuscolo con i testi delle canzoni. I brani contenuti in questo CD sono i seguenti : Relax, Grace Kelly, Sturdust (cantata insieme a Chiara), Celebrate (cantata insieme a Pharrell Williams), We are golden, Big girl, Rain, Underwater, Popular Song (cantanta insieme ad Ariana Grande), Blame it on the girls, Live your life, Love today, Kick ass (cantata insieme a Redone) ed Happy ending.Imballaggio, spedizione e consegna ok.Prezzo ottimo.
