In the past, Fusilli were made by hand according to a method that was passed down from one generation to the next. You had to rapidly twist a strand of spaghetti around a knitting needle with a skilled hand. The ability required to perform this procedure is reminiscent of that of spinners and as a matter of fact, the term "fusillo" comes from "fuso" (spindle) which was the tool used by spinners. This pasta is particularly good with meat and fish based sauces or with condiments made with ricotta. It is also perfect with vegetable sauces too that are prepared with a tomato sauce with peppers, aubergines, olives and capers.

I really love De Cecco products so when I saw this whole wheat version of it, I said "why not?" This tasted really good. In my experience, whole wheat pasta tends taste flavorless and obviously not the same. This one taste really good, enough to trick my partner who has this superpower to tell when I am feeding him a "healthy" item. He did not taste the difference and actually loved it. I would totally purchase it and indulge in every bite.

It didn't taste heavy on my stomach, and it contains the ingredients I need. Try it with ground beef and tomato sauce. Throw in onion and so on. Next time I'll try turkey sausage. The bad news is that it will likely be a hundred dollars for one pound box next week and not the reasonable price I paid for it.
