It really worked. Just keep in mind that for a small load you need two boxes and they come in 3-pack, so do yourself a favor and order 2 3-packs so you have enough for 3 uses. And very important, read and follow the instructions to a T.

This saved my clothes! I accidentally washed a red dress with several white items and alas, my white clothes were now pink. I tried everything - Oxiclean, Hydrogen Peroxide, nothing was working. I used Rit with the boiling water method (I tried the front loader method and it didn't work) and my clothes are white again! It worked amazing, but you really need to use it in boiling water over the stove.

I wanted to change the color of my blue linen curtains because they had faded. It didn't remove the color. I followed all of the directions. I even tried adding another package.

If you was clothes and, say, a color item got mixed with your whitesand faded on them, this works! However, if you think you're gonna take the color out of a very dark item of color, you'll only bring it lightrr tones. I used 3 boxes trying boxes on an olive-colored cotton oxford shirt. Best I could get was an uneven light tobacco shade. One plus I hadn't counted on, or maybe it would be a drawback unless desired, it will break down the fabric to some degree. So if you have a very heavy shirt or denim and want it softened AND lightened, this will do the trick. The shirt I washed in it was just too heavy and too dark. I wasn't counting on the product softening the fabric and making it a lighter feel. But I assume it damages fibers enough to do just that.

I had some purple blue dye transfer onto my nice white guest bath towels, ruining them completely. I had spent a lot of money on these towels and only had one guest use them so far so I was upset and trying to find a way to save them. I have tried every other method to turn them white again and nothing else has worked until now! Two packets in the top loader, soaked for 20min with very hot water, then rinsed and ran a quick load to wash everything out and my towels are good as new. I can’t believe it! This is an amazing product. I wish I had taken a before and after photo to show the difference, but I honestly didn’t think it was going to work so I didn’t bother. As others have stated, it does have a strong chemical smell and should be used with care in a well ventilated area. If you have a garment with dye transfer you want to turn back white, this product works to lift and remove the stain completely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn’t remove colors completely to white, but it does work to a certain level

I have a 100% cotton thin trench coat that’s reddish orange color that I wanted to remove the color and turn it to white so I could later on dye it to rose pink. I used the stovetop method with a big pot so the coat can be stirred around freely and covered with closed to boiling water and everything the right steps, put in 2 out of this 3 packs, and stirred constantly over an hour.. It’s turned into a kind of mustard color, Not remotely close to white, and I can see slight uneven spots all over the coat. Now I don’t know whether I should use the 1 box left to do the whole procedure again to take off more color or just leave it this mustard color. Since it’s not white, I can’t dye it rose pink color as I wanted, but at least this mustard color looks much better than its original reddish orange color.Maybe the formula should be stronger to be improved? Overall not very satisfied with the color removing result from this product. But it is the best deal here to get 3 packs of this, and if you just really don’t like your cloth’s current color and think any other color will be better, I’d recommend giving this a try still and you will get a better surprise color out of this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my wedding dress!

Summary of following success story:1. Rite Dye Color Remover removed previously dyed dress (2 months), turned from golden ivory to original white of dress2. Used stove top route with product3. TOXIC smell-use outdoors4. Happy camper with lots of hope and prayers and endless research via videos and blogsOriginally my dress was dyed, but it was not ivory/vintage but rather a golden yellow tone. Mind you this was my mother's original wedding dress fabric so I wanted to love it, but just couldn't deal with the color. After tons of research and prayers, I finally decided to take on courage and use Rit Dye Color Remover. Stove top method works best since I honestly just wanted the color stripped and back to rhe original off-white vintage/aged color (predominantly a blank canvas so can dye properly).I followed the directions and boiled water (since I was going to use my laundry sink, I boiled 20 cups of water in my spaghetti pan). I then proceeded to put 2 envelopes of Rit Dye. HOWEVER, next time instead of doing this in my kitchen I would pour the boiling water in the laundry sink and then add Rit Dye - this stuff is STRONG & TOXIC. It left my house smelling toxic for 2 days, even with the fan and windows opened. Nevertheless it worked so it qas a lesson learned. Anyways, I mixed the solution and added 10 cups of water (just need enough water to cover the dress, though remember that the solution works best in hot water). With my heart on my sleeves and GLOVES on my hands, I dunked my dress in the sink and prayed I still had a wedding dress at the end of the day. I swished and swirled my dress with a wooden spoon and pretty soon you could see the golden dye removed. Happiness doesn't even described the moment. I had HOPE again of wearing my mom's dress. After about 20 minutes, when I ensured that the color was completely gone, I strated to pour warm water and let the Rite Dye water drain. Little by little I turned on the cold water, until that's all that was left. I took my dress and hung it up in my bathroom since it was raining. Now it was time to let it dry completely so that tea staining/dying could commence (that's a whole other yet successful story).Do note that the toxic smell will still be smelled on your garment, but if you're going to dye/stain it (like I did), just hold of washing it until you're completely DONE with it. In order to take off the smell, I left me dress soaking in water with laundry detergent and then rinsed after and hour. Then refilled with detergent and rinsed....I did this about 5 times until it was then nice and laundry smelly and ready to wash inside out. I stay away from the dryer, so air drying it was.Best wishes!!!! ^^^this is the longest review I've ever written '
