(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } We’ve had issues for 20+ years with rats in our fruit trees due to the surrounding properties. Since using these traps it’s a no win for rats. I set them in the trees secured with a strip of duct tape. Super easy to set and the spring tension is so strong it never misses. I’ll gladly spend the extra buck for the satisfaction that comes from hearing the “snap”!
5.0 out of 5 stars A very effective mouse trap/cover combo...catches mice every night...sometimes two at once
The JT Eaton 408BULK and 410BULK Jawz Depot Rat and Chipmunk Trap & Cover combo (sold separately) is a very effective mouse trapping system. It has caught mice almost every night around the base of our Pacific Northwest Home, which tends to be a "target rich zone" because the house sits at the base of a small wooded mountain. The trap has not caught any roof rats yet, which I hope means that none are present. The trap and cover are easy to assemble, the bait is a snap to load (I use peanut butter/oatmeal and just dab it in the bait cup with my finger), and the trap sets easily with a push of your thumb without worrying about it springing with your fingers in the way. The parts are made mostly of plastic and weather well in the rainy PNW. The covered trap is ideal for use around pets and perhaps children, but the little ones would need to be coached not to stick their fingers or hands into the "mouse hole" end of the trap cover. A red vs. green label on the trap itself, easily visible through a slot in the cover, indicates if the trap is "set" or "sprung." Mice and other varmints are quick to dispose of by opening the jaws of the trap as if you were setting it, and then tapping on the top of a trash can or other waste receptacle. Much to my surprise, one of my Jawz traps caught two mice at the same time once, perhaps because they both were "feeding at the trough" when the hammer dropped. I suspect that the tunnel-like cover adds to the effectiveness of the trap, by mimicking the kind of spaces that mice like to travel and congregate in. All in all, the Jawz trap/cover has proved to be a very effective tool as part of a whole-house extermination plan. I much prefer the use of these high-tech snap traps compared to poison bait boxes, because guess where mice and rats go after being poisoned? Yep...there's a good chance that they will crawl into some crevice in your home or foundation, and then stink to high heaven for he next 2-3 weeks until all of the "organics" have dissipated . No thanks! And you save on quarterly payments to a pest company, just so they can keep loading up your bait boxes with poison. Score one for the home team.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Rodent Rat Mice Traps JT Eaton 410BULK Jawz Plastic Rat Trap
I caught my second rat with one of these, they were both small (I guess baby rats), not sure if these would work with a larger giant adult size rat (for those try catchmaster rat glue traps and secure to floor with heavy duty duck tape underneath). the trick with these JT Eaton 410BULK Jawz Plastic Rat Traps is finding the right area of house and also the correct bait (in both cases I had the traps positioned with the food tray facing inward toward the wall baseboard (for rats I rolling up heavy duty duck tape and putting on floor first and then press the trap down on the tape so the rat cannot struck and slip out of trap). For food bait, what didn't work is heated bacon/peanut butter or chocolate, or bird seed which some recommended. What did work eventually is mixed salted nuts/peanuts. I did catch a giant rat finally with the rat glue trap using small bird seed. But keep in mind that trap was sitting out for 2 months (I was suprised the glue didnt' dry up). I think the warm weather brought the rats/mice out of the walls, its been very hot this week for first time, where these traps were sitting all winter and I don't have a very warm house.
4.0 out of 5 stars They work but they are not a quick kill
Very easy to set and they catch very small mice in addition to the chipmunk/flying squirrel size pests I have. However, they are not a clean kill. The teeth will grab feet and arms that traditional traps do not, so you get more kills than you would ordinarily but you are greeted by a bloody mess of a chewed up trap and leg. What makes me knock off a star is that even on a perfect neck catch on a flying squirrel (smaller than your average rat) it was still very much alive 10 mins after the trap snapped. Beating a squirrel to death with a hammer so you can reset your trap just isn't very fun at 2am.BTW, these come in full retail packaging but the packaging was pretty beat up on half of them. Still an amazing deal compared to store prices.
3.0 out of 5 stars release prematurely or cannot be set at all
I have bought these traps for about 7 years and have great results with catching rats and mice around a desert house BUT this last batch bought 6/24 have been releasing on own without being triggered or they cannot be set since release as soon as set. Makes me jumpy and afraid to set them not knowing if my hand will be in way! I had to throw out 4 of the 12 so far for being defective. Another brand I had bought had the opposite problem-hard to get to release. So Jawz please fix your traps.
5.0 out of 5 stars The trap to bet the job done
All I can say is after trying many brands, this is the best all around for success and ease of use. So many traps I tried were not fast enough or broke quickly. This has caught mid-sized to grown rats that were too smart for most traps and literally walked across glue traps.Think about what your rats are targeting in your home and bait with that. Mine were too smart for peanut butter or cheese and crumbling Ritz crackers that they kept eating through the box worked. Just be flexible until you figure out what works as it is not a one size fits all solution. If you see or hear them, place the traps in those areas. Check regularly as they learn quickly and then they will be wise to them until playing or they get sloppy and forget.Oh and yeah being able to set it without fear of my fingers being zapped is a blessing especially when the husband’s solution is to ignore it and turn the light off. You can solve an infestation with this at any age or gender.

Quick delivery I highly recommend this product.
Great Traps
Nice quality rat traps. Easy to set by foot or hand which in my opinion beats the older style spring loaded ones , no hair trigger finger snapping accidents. I found placing two facing one another works very well in the rats path, forces them to walk through them when rats are finding food elsewhere and are not forced to take it from trap.
Four Stars
Great traps just a little smaller than expected. Otherwise easy to use, very powerful and work great
Solid product
Good product, solid design . The photo is a little misleading though, as the teeth are show as silver giving the illusion they are metal, but they are not, just plastic. Do the job though
Too small for city rats
These are too small for rats, about 2/3 the size of the Tomcat plastic snap traps. I've had dozens of trips but no kills, while my 1 Tomcat trap has killed 3 rats. Maybe they'd work on tiny rats or big mice, but won't even phase a big nasty alley rat.
