For the price, this is a far better kit, containing everything you need, including a recipe book and scale, to get started. I've successfully created caviar out of chili water, and it's one of the neatest things I've ever prepared in the kitchen. Definitely worth it, and honestly, it's cheaper, once you account for the scale and cook book, than the competition.

My 12 year old grandson thinks he might be a food critic when he is an adult, so I am always looking for different ways to engage him. This kit has been a terrific success in that we have loads of fun trying to duplicate the recipes. The tastes of the recipes and the appearances are not always as successful as we hoped. But the bonding and fun we have as we shop for other ingredients and measure and follow the directions as precisely as we can is PRICELESS!!

Ad leads you to believe you will have everything you need for some great experimenting which couldnt be further from the truth. Most of what is in the "cookbook" requires additional items not included. I gave this as a gift hoping to inspire future food exploration and feel that I may have only stifled it.

I have been using these ingredients to help with creating out of the box dishes at the restaurant where I work. The recipe book is quite insightful and practical on using the ingredients. The only negative about this product is that the pictures in the recipe guide are not in color.

I am hesitant to give three stars to this product. The package and service from Bolo was perfect. No complains about that. The complain I have is on the book and the DVD. The DVD contains only a PDF. I was expecting videos...maybe it was just my expectation, but it should be clarified on the description that is just that...a PDF.Regarding the book, at least for me, a book must inspired you and awaken your senses, you need to virtually "fall in love with the recipe" for you to give it a try. The book contained in the kit, does not invite you to read it nor try the recipes. Everything is black and white, you can't imagine the texture nor colors of the dishes. I am deeply disappointed that it is not specified in the description of the package what you are about to buy.By the way, this is not the only case. I bought Party Foods from same author...my stake. I should have researched more.
