Where I live in NC it gets rather hot during the summers and suction-style mounts always fail, often at very bad times (like when rounding a corner) simply because the surface they are trying to stick to gets too hot. This mount has an adhesive base which sticks permanently to my dash, much better IMO than a suction mount. The universal camera mounting screw at the top is great for attaching all sorts of devices (cameras, phone mounts, tablet mounts, DVRs, etc...). Be careful when sticking it to your dash as it is very hard to remove, though it is possible with some adhesive remover to remove it and not be able to tell that it had ever been mounted. However, once removed, you'll have to get some double-sided mounting tape to re-attach it, better to make sure it's exactly where you want it right from the get-go. I found that the best orientation is with the lower knob to the front and the upper knob on the right.

Before purchasing this mount I spent over $50 trying to find the perfect one for car vlogs. Fits my Canon G7x perfectly and is very sturdy.

Does NOT stick to my dash. I had a different one in my previous car that was still on the dash when I wrecked it. This little gadget is garbage! Not happy with it at all. Useless.

Was super excited receiving it, set it up and worked fine. Tried to attach camera onto it after a while and instantly fell off dashboard, adhesive wasnt even sticky anymore after ONE USE and was diappointed

This is a small and compact mount. It is as the description states but it didn’t ultimately fit for my application. I needed it to mount and outside weather station and while it mounted properly, I couldn’t tighten it enough to keep the wind from actually move laterally. It seems to work for other applications.

Works with my Contour dashcam. It's very small and compact and I needed this specifically because the camera is mounted upside down from the windshield and it's a tall camera with the sliding release mechanism. It's very discreet from the outside as the 3M tape is transparent.
